Heated Mirrors & Washer Jets

Forgive my dumbness, but how exactly do these work and turn on/off? I only picked my mini up the other day so i'm a total newbie.

They are always heated while the car is turned on. Yes, that means even during warm weather. It is described in the Owner's Manual.

I don't have the heated mirrors on my '04 Cooper.

Do you think it's possible to add this option somehow? What do I need to buy

Really? The dealer I bought mine from said the mirrors don't heat up unless the temp is 7 degrees or less.

My initial thought is that he lied,
but on further thinking, he's merely ignorant.

Your dealer is right about the mirrors, not to sure about the temperature though. The manual states that they come on automatically at a preset temperature, but I thought it was around 5c. The washer jets are always heated.

The 1st Gen MINI mirrors and washer jets (what fizzoid has) are on whenever the car is on,
whatever the temperature.

I have retro fitted them to my car, you need to buy new glasses, then wire them into the car

I like this, supporting vendors offering solutions. This is how this community thrives. Long may it continue.

p.s. I wire mine into the heated rear window circuit so you can have them on when you want - a more co2 friendly solution

Thanks a lot mikey for the advice. Though, one more question arises: can you tell me what kind of wires have you used to get the proper energy to the mirrors? I'm not a specialist but I believe the cables should also have some specs

Thanks!

Hi guys, I got a used 4 month old (57 plate) Cooper last week and wondered if there is any way to tell if you have heated mirrors and washer jets at all. It has the visibility pack which includes the heated front windscreen, but heated mirrors & washer jets weren't mentioned on the advert.

Do I have to wait for a frost to tell?

Nope, after the car's been running for say 5 mins, put your hand on the wingmirror and if it's warm, they're heated.

Do they get that hot they would feel warm to the touch? I feel a bit of a plonker for not trying that!
