Talking A Shifty question

I'm taking delivery of my 2003 Cooper (5 speed manual) in November and I have a question regarding optimal shift points. When I test drove a Cooper I realized you need to keep the revs high to get maximum performance. My question is for everyone that has had their 5 speed for awhile, what are the shift points in MPH for both performance and economy?
Thanks for everyones help.

While I don't own a standard Cooper and can't directly answer your question, I do have this thought: Since the all MINIs sold in the US come with a tachometer as standard equipment, I think most people look at engine rpm on the tach to determine max shift points (about 6700 rpm) - and ignore whatever mph is shown on the speedometer.

In my experience, historically cars were marked with shift points hash marks on the speedometer (like classic VWs) as a substitute because they didn't feature a tachometer.
