Offline | One other thing to take into account is the resale value of the car. The deppreciation is very low and that is the BIGGEST cost of ownership of any car. So don't just look at the bottom line for the cost. |

Offline | Are you a troll in disguise?! You'll be hard pushed to find someone here who doesn't like MINIs. Without getting into your argument, if you want practicality and cheapness, there's a wealth of cars you can choose. I don't think the MINI could in all honesty be seen as practical or cheap when you consider what the same money could buy you. Let us know what you buy, the MINI clearly isn't for you. Lee. |

| MINI2 Master | I'm sure the faults and fixes forum is very disturbing... But this is typical of enthusiast boards. Whatever else you narrowed your selection down to, find an internet site for that car, and have a look at their problems. Almost every car on the planet has it's share of problems, recalls, revisions and the occasional lemon. Chilli Red/White Cooper S, Sport Pack & Sunroof. Delivered June 12th, 2002!Now with MCS Winter Tire Package. |

Offline | SS+ all the way! I used to have a One with standard suspension but jus got a new Cooper with 17"s and SS+. I test draove a Cooper with SS and I didn't think it was much different to the normal. My new Cooper is now amazin round corners, I'm sure it's on rails!! It is a hard ride but you don't mind that when you can take corners at 50mph+. Good Luck mate! Pete! Black/Black Cooper S with chili and just bout everythin else. Tinted and ridin on 18" Kahn RSC. Massive sound install with DVD, sub, amp, blue suede everywhere, false floors, unbelievable! |

Offline | could i just ask whether the cooper CHILI pack does actually include SS+ as standard (unless we request otherwise) I ordered my chili cooper end of december, set for 7th feb delivery, and the salesman said it did, but only after he consulted the accessories book to check (which didnt fill me with confidence)! And after mini changed prices without amending the brocures (such as the extra £20 on chili for the new compulsory glove box and £35 extra for a md player!) A little confusing... Thanks, Alx. |

GAJ i do find it hard when it comes to poor roads, but it never affects the line of travel, the car never gets kicked off course. Does this answer your Q ? ![]() S12COT, Cooper 'S' arrives 14th April after 3 years without a Mini i could not help myself! |

| MINI2 Regular | I have SS+ on my Cooper too so I know what it's like, I haven't driven a Cooper with standard SS and was really wondering if that gave a noticably more comfortable ride? I love my SS+ although I agree with your comments above! ![]() Black Cooper, White Roof, White 5 Stars, Chrome Shark Gill Side Vents, Red & Black Cloth/Leather and Silver, Chili Pack, Single Slot C.D. GAJ I would say that the ride is slightly more comfortable, but i can live with out that cause of the cars handling improvments! in short the MINI sticks to the road like sh*t to a blanket ![]() S12COT, Cooper 'S' arrives 14th April after 3 years without a Mini i could not help myself! |

Offline | Hello I am collecting my Cherished MCS ( feb 04 ) On Apl 01. The test drive showd that on 17" S spokes the ride was comforatable in comparison to other MCS I tried. This car has Chillipack , but no option on the BMW computer for suspension. Did the Feb04 MCS come with SS if SS+ was not speced or did it come with softer option...??Got to say , felt good. ![]() MINI2 Master | Also keep in mind that SS+ was 'watered-down' for the American market in 2003. The original (and best) SS+ was quite firm. I've driven Coopers with all of the different combinations. Basically the SS->SS+ sorts out body roll, it's the wheel & tyre combination that makes the ride harsher. The benefits of the bigger wheels are cornering and grip in the dry (and appearance), the disadvantage is 'ride comfort'. Saying that, you can make the ride softer with 17 or 18" wheels by using non-runflat tyres. |

Offline | HI - new to the forum also. Specifically had to find out about sport suspension vs SS+. I had a bit of a fit, just getting my second mini cooper cherished (2006) which was supposed to me a mirror image of my old mini cooper (2004) and I find out that it does not have the SS+, but only SS! I was rather ticked off since the dealer said it did have it - in any event it seems not to make a big difference. I don't mind a stiff ride, I just like to take my corners fast. The new car has 17" wheels which perhaps is better in the end than the small wheels with SS+? |

Offline | Hi, My advice would be to think of your future plans for the car, do you want to modify it or are you happy with 16s? My cooper has SS with 18" wheels and runflats, the ride is perfect for me! The car handles very well without making my teeth fall out on dodgy surrey roads. If you go for factory 18s the dealer will fit a steering lock limiter to prevent rubbing of the arches with SS+ as it is a little lower, 15mm I think. SS+ is only £100 more so like others have said its just a matter of preference. Best of luck with the choice... Chris. |
