Cooper differences by year

Hi everybody,
What are the differences between a Mini Cooper with Chilli Pack 2003 compared to say a 2002 model with Chili pack. I am getting my Indi Blue cooper in 2 weeks and can't wait.
Are there any changes to the car such as improvements?

WelshMiniMan

PS would anybody be interested in a Welsh Mini Run?

I believe its only the addition of the glovebox, though mid 2002 cars onwards got the glovebox too !

Don't think there were any other changes........

Yes, the glovebox is the main addition although the standard programming changed a little : the doors are set to automatically lock ~12mph on a 2003 car.

Mine came standard with comfort opening, I think this may be a 2003 thing too.

Lee.

And no 12v socket in the boot on 2003 cars!

Thats covered all of the changes. I think that the automatic locking is a great feature particularly when driving in slow moving traffic in city centres.

Other changes have been phased in/out over time, but that's about it 2002/2003 wise!

I've been told by my dealer after ordering my MC that the steering wheel as part of the chili pack will be changing....the leather will change to a pin hole effect like what comes with the MFSW....apparently.

They are already out now, along with new Cooper S pedals. There are picures on the site of both.

However, these are not 'true' 2003 differences, and there are 2003 cars without these modifications.

My Feb 2002 build Cooper was replaced with a December 2002 build Cooper (2003 model) after it caught fire!

From memory, the changes I've noticed in the 2003 model are the glove box, auto locking at ~12mph and auto unlocking, chrome door handles and improved seat mechanisms and I do have a 12v socket in the boot!

12V in Boot ... Dec 2002 build

Eh? My Nov build didn't get one. Did I tick the wrong box?

Ahhh nuts. I quite like that new "thumby" style. Thought it was only on the MCS - can anyone confirm that this is appearing in the Cooper now?

Still, if it would mean losing the drivers shelf to get the holy wheel then I'd prefer to be where I am...

Lee.
