Offline | My New Cooper :D Hi All Just ordered my new Cooper, due for delivery on June 16th 03 (seems so far away )Just wanted to post my spec, and get some opinions on it! Cooper with Chili pack Indi Blue White Roof and Mirrors White 16" Wheels White bonnet stripes Black Leather with Red Cloth ASC+T MFSW Air Con Tinted Windows Tinted Front Screen Xenon's Trip Comp Heated Mirrors & Washer jets CD Boost & Harmon Kardon I am unsure on a few things! Xenon's... worth it? I like to see where I am going, and do a wide variation of driving including night motorway & country roads. I also like the sound of the high pressure light washers! I think that red interior will go with the blue, but haven't seen it yet. Anyone got this combo? Has anyone got any pics of this combo? I am also unsure about the heated mirrors & jets! Sounds good for £40, but does anyone recomend against it? Cheers Kazmire ![]() |

| MINI2 Regular | Looking great, Kazmire! I can't offer any advice on the Xenons or the red interior, but can't imagine that you could really go wrong with either. I didn't get them on my Cooper, but am certainly not opposed to them. You will love the MFSW, and I highly recommend the nav. It's so cool. The wait will be well worth it, and as long as you hang out on Mini2 enough it'll fly right by! Can't wait to see it when it gets here! ---Liam--- *Black and White Mini Cooper *White Wheels *Sport Package *Premium Package *CD Navigation *Clear Side Repeaters |

Offline | Cheers Liam. I have had a play with the nav in the showroom (i guess u mean Satelite Navigation) and it was very cool! Seen it on a few cars now. BUT, I am fairly good at reading a map, and know how to get to 80% of the places I go, so I opted out because of the expense. Maybe if they'd made it more affordable I would have had it! Then again, I do love the Big centralised speedo. I will be sure to post some pics as soon as it arrives! Can't wait to show my baby off! Thanks Again Kaz |

Offline | Xenon is definitely a good option to have. Come in standard here in Canada, the Xenon lights will never disappoint you in dark times plus they will make other drivers envy of you And my friend said the Xenon lights used in MINI are even "better" (brighter/stronger I guess) than the ones in BMW's 3 series. |

Offline | Cool mikkol. Thanks for that. I think I'm sold. I do like the idea. Was driving home from work last night and saw a few sets of Xenon's, and they look very nice too! Nice and bright, but not blinding for on-coming drivers! Smiffy, I'm from West Wales, near Tenby. Ordered the car from Green Bower, Havefordwest. Whyd'ya ask? ![]() |

Offline | Ordered it approx 3 weeks ago! At the time it was just over a 3 and a half month wait! I thought that was quite a long time to wait! I was told 3 months for the cooper and about 7-8 for the cooper S. I don't mind too much cos it gives me time to sell my old car! Vauxhall Corsa Preg 96! A slight increase in street cred I think you'll agree! |

Offline | Specs I am inclined to agree with EBMINI; you would be very satisfied with an S with specs like these. In addition, have you driven a Cooper with the aircon blaring (or even just ON)? They're already underpowered, and aircon cuts the takeoff power to a minimum. Feels like limp-home mode until it hits around 4k or 5k RPM (which you'll have trouble making yourself do during break-in). Well, now that you feel sufficiently horrid about your choice in your MINI, let me congratulate you -- it will be one beauty of an automobile when it comes in! You should enjoy the contrasting colors very much, and you'll have nearly every option known to man. [now...if they'd only enable the dang rear fog lamps..........] About Xenons: yes, they are fabulous! One thing you'll notice when driving or riding in a Xenon-equipped car (goes back to the statement that they don't blind oncoming traffic): you will notice a very clear, distinct line of light...like a strange horror movie. Don't get me wrong, you can see excellently during the night and Xenons are much brighter and clearer (blue light) than regular halogens, but the light really doesn't spread very far outside of the zone that you will notice. That combined with MINI's unbelievably awesome auto-leveling lights ensures that other traffic aren't 'forced' to experience the great lighting that you so enjoy! Best of luck...and keep strong during those last few days of waiting! It's SOOO worth it. ![]() -Zach 2MINI4U Full-body LY 2003 S, M/F wheel, h/k, Sport, Cold, Power T on antenna. |

Offline | Just got my IB/W Cooper today. My specs are similar to yours apart from not having the red interior, H&M sound system and the Xenons. Just done the first 100 miles in the car and its a blast. Being a racing driver of sorts I went for the sports suspension plus and the sports seats, which really make the car for me. Love the direct steering too. The argument for going for an MCS is not quite as straight forward as some other posters seem to point out. Insurance would be a problem for me on the S, as well as the price increase - money doesn't grow on trees in my neck of the woods, although if anyone can point me towards a money-tree then i'd be grateful. Offline | I considered a basic MCS at one point until I realised that a Cooper is an insurance group 8 and a Cooper S is 15/16. I can hear the laughter from my insurance company right now...... ![]() Oh well, one day I'll have full NCB.... Neill |

Offline | First off, EBMini, I am affraid that the insurance for the Cooper S is a big no-no for me! It is going to be £700 in my name for the cooper (21yrs old), and a cooper S isn't even worth looking at because of this. Also, if I had a Cooper S at this price, I wouldn't have the joys of H/K stereo or the chili pack which I really want. As CFRC mentioned, money doesn't grow on trees!! I have driven the Cooper with & without aircon, and didn't find it that different or even slow at all. Don't forget, I currently drive a 1.4 Corsa (0-60 in 14secs according to the book) so anything sub 10secs is amazing for me! Also, I don't anticipate using the aircon a GREAT deal as I live in Wales, and you very rarely have a hot day to put it on. "So why have it in the first place" I hear you ask... because it will help with resale value, and because, quite simply, I want it. My dad has had air con on many of his cars, and IMHO it is a god send on those rare hot days here in Wales! CFRC: The reason i didn't go for the SS+ is because I have driven it without and found it a more comfortable drive, but still excellent handling. Personal preference I suppose. But I did go for the sports seats Who in their right mind wouldn't have sports seats in a Mini Cooper? Thanks for your reply's. Keep em coming. |
