Offline | Hood scoop on MINI Cooper? Just out of curiosity, can you easily swap a MINI Cooper hood with a MINI Cooper S hood with hood scoop? I have asked the dealer this question and he says no. The Cooper hood seems to be wider than the Cooper S. Does anyone know this to be true? Psalm 23: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for you are with me. |

Offline | If someone likes the look of the hood scoop on the Cooper S, but prefers to drive an automatic then the only way to get a hood scoop on a Cooper is to swap hoods. It's only for appearance purposes only. Psalm 23: Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for you are with me. |

| MINI2 Regular | maybe for the right $$$ you could have a custom airbox made up to take in air from the scoop a la Camaro SS/Firebird WS6. Then at least it wouldn't be strictly for appearance sake. EB Mini, How is the hood replacement any different then everyone who puts chrome gascap packages on their Mini Cooper's or Mini One's? Offline | What I don't under stand is people who have a problem about putting an S bonnet or any other thing on a cooper or a one. I had a beetle that was kitted out to look like the new bug RSI. And yes I was trying to make it look like somwthing it clearly wasn't!! I think saying your trying to make it something its not is a bit harsh!!! There maybe many reasons why they haven't got an S in the first place, Money to be the main one, age, insurance. Let people do what they want to do you don't have to drive it!!! Rant over!! | MINI2 Master | I like the Cooper hood better. If there was a way to drive an S, that looked more like a cooper, more classic, less flashy, I'd do it. Alas, the scoop is functional. Chilli Red/White Cooper S, Sport Pack & Sunroof. Delivered June 12th, 2002!Now with MCS Winter Tire Package. |

| MINI2 Regular | i think he meant, if someone likes the look of the hood scoop thats standard on the cooper s. but owns or prefers to drive an automatic cooper, the easiest solution would be to swap hoods. 98 E320 Limo, Chrome Factory Wheels, Indash 7" Clarion Touchsreen. Offline | I knew it was always going to happen, Coopers tarted up to look like the Cooper S. Maybe these fakes would also like to add the S badges and side intakes, perhaps the boot spoiler and exhausts (fake extensions of course) As a Cooper S owner I'm offended firstly that any MINI owner would want to make such a modification. The definition of a RICE modification is one that serves no purpose what so ever but looks as if it should, ie: a bonnet intake on a car that doesn't require one. Secondly, I paid the extra bucks for a Cooper S because I wanted the extra performance, it annoys me to no end that someone can buy a Cooper and then through a number of after-market non genuine & some genuine mods make the Cooper look just like my Cooper S. I don't want to sound like some elitest ****** but I just thought MINI owners had a bit more class and style. If you own a Cooper because you couldn't afford an S that's cool, just work up to it and save your bucks and get the S next time round, if your happy with the MINI that is. But don't be a goose and make you cool Cooper look like something it's not, you'll only end up with egg on your face and give the rice boys something to brag about when they leave you behind. "Oh mate, I fully dumped this Cooper S last night" when in fact he "fully dumped" a Cooper tarted up to look like an S. I guess this is how Porsche 911 owners felt when VW Beetle owners started putting fibreglass kits on there cars to make them look like a Porsche. Offline | 'Chill out Guy's ' . Whether you like the ' S ' Hood or not , I don't see the problem with someone wanting one one their MINI !! . Personally , I do not like the ' HOLE ' in the Bonnet , yes I know it's there for a reason , but I could have designed a better way to get air to the inter cooler without a Bl**dy great hole in the front ! , and this has been a major concern in my deliberation's about buying an ' S ' ! . But I don't see the reason for the ' AGRO ' ! . If any guy want's an ' S ' front end on his ' ONE ' or ' COOPER ' that's his business not ' YOUR'S ' . LIVE and let LIVE . Consider that some people are very lucky that they can afford an ' S ' , and as such should think kindly on people that wish to aspire to your level . It's only a bl**dy car part for goodness sake !! . Lumspeed. Lumspeed |

Offline | Bear in mind there's other reasons people would get a Cooper rather than an S other than just cost. You shouldn't see a Cooper and think "Oh, he only got that because he couldn't afford an S. Maybe next time..." If someone wants to make their Cooper look like an S then so be it, they'll always know the truth themselves and that they're a fake. |

Offline | Hey Guys, there's no Agro intended in my comments, just passion. I am passionate about my MINI as are most people on this site. I guess I'm just jack of people making cars of all makes look like something they're not. Especially when it comes to my car. Spoiler on a ONE or Cooper? Sure why not, Chrome Fuel Cap? Why not, I don't particularly like the bodgey way it's fitted on the S. But the bonnet and scoop changeover I just can't understand. On the S it has a purpose on the Cooper it wouldn't and that's what I just don't get? The bonnet scoop on the S is the one main defining feature between it and all other MINI models, so putting one on a Cooper is clearly a case of trying to make the car look like something it's not. Sure some people have got a Cooper becasue they don't like elements of the S like the manual only gearbox etc. But if you like the Cooper rather than the S then why would you wnat a big hole in you bonnet for no reason. IF YOU OWN A COOPER BECAUSE YOUCOULDN"T AFFORD AN S DON'T BE A WANNABE JUST BE YOURSELF IF ALL YOU CAN AFFORD IS A COOPER BE PROUD THAT YOU DRIVE A MINI, ONE OF THE WORLDS COOLEST CARS. As I said previously if you like the look of Cooper S then just work hard, save hard and buy one rather than spending money making your Cooper look like one. It's that simple, and don't think I'm being patronising. I'm by no strecth a rich boy and don't feel I'm on any level to aspire to because I drive an S. I worked hard and was smart with my money and my finance to get my Cooper S and anyone can do it. If you've got a Cooper and you want an S good on you for having goals. Just sit tight, enjoy your Cooper for what it is and get the series 2 Cooper S when it comes out in 18 months or so, it will be a better car than the series one for sure, maybe even some extra HP and less little bugs ![]() Cheers, peace & love to all MINI owners (except those who put S bonnets on Coopers )Jase ![]() 02 MCS gone after 2 years of fun and new friends, and 10 visits to the service dept at Brisbane BMW.
