Ordered my MINI a couple of weeks ago and going through the usual agonising colour decision! Anyway have decided i want a white roof with whichever colour i eventually decide on. Now for the question:

What do people reckon to white or silver wheels (going for the 17" S-spokes)? Any opinions regarding practicality/appearence/cleaning etc will be apreciated!

Looking at your MINI profile, you've ordered a pure silver MINI with a black roof (oh dear ) so I think the silver wheels are order of the day....

White wheels all the way! And while you're at it, you may as well just cut to the chase and order your clear side repeaters, too. You can't beat how great the white wheels look. Trust me.

I have all silver with silver wheels, and am a bit jealous of indi blue, esp with white top.
Anyway --- silver more popular seeming here in U.S. but saw a great one at a meet last weekend with white wheels and white top! He said dealer tried to talk him into silver, but he is happy he insisted. And -- the white wheels and white top look NICE. Guess it might depend on what, if anything, you might be planning to add to the top

Of course everyone has their own unique opinion and that's what makes it so that not everyone is driving the same vehicle. IMO if you are going to have a white roof, you might as well color coordinate and go with the white wheels. The silver wheels aren't chrome so they won't really match anything else on the vehicle. However, especially in the states (don't know about elsewhere) silver/chrome is the standard so with white wheels you'll definitely stand out.

I ordered IB/with white top and mirrors and white bonnet stripes..but silver wheels..this is just my opinion but it's why I decided against white wheels: 1)The brake dust is tremendous on MINI's and sucks to clean 2)I think the white wheels look like cheap plastic(though I know they are the same just painted) 3)For me it just seemed a little over the top on the whiteness..lol like I said just my opinion and no offense meant to the MINI's with white wheels!

I got the BRG with White roof, and went for silver S-spokes... thought same as brave1's 3rd point - that its a bit too much to have white wheels as well.

But its really six of one, and half dozen of the other. Both will look great in the end

I agree with brave1 about the white wheels looking cheap. If you look at both silver and white wheels side by side, in person, the silver ones look much nicer. However, white does tie in the roof and mirror caps nicely.

On the matter of dirt and cleaning, you can get away with not cleaning silver wheels as often, but I don't think it's a good idea. Silver wheels get just as much brake dust splattered on them as the white wheels and require regular cleaning. White wheels will help you spend quality time with your baby.

If you've got a white roof, then it's got to be white wheels. But then I've got a black roof, so what would I know!

Initially didn't like the white wheels, but I when all said and done and I came home with BRG, white roof, wheels and bonnet strips. Yes, I spend a little time every week keeping them up but with the green like the white.
I just remmber what my salesman said. You can order just about anything, and Mini will not let you build an ugly car.

17" don't look as good in white in my opinion. White suits the 5 stars a lot better.

In that case go for the white - IMHO they set the white roof off really well.

They look at their best when they're clean mind you!

I have a chilli red/white roof/white 5-stars and think they look the biz, but thats my opinion. The wheels do need cleaned every week to keep them looking respectable, but rather than cheap plastic, I think they look like Royal Doulton. Or Armitage Shanks.

Go for the white wheels. This is someone with silver wheels and a black roof, but oh well!

I just think very few cars can get away with having white wheels and the MINI is one of them.

I've ordered Chilli Red with White roof and stripes, but with Silver 17's as think they look the bizz.
Also dealer said you would be forever cleaning the white 1's?!

White roof and white wheels remind me of what was called the "full Cleveland" look from the 1970's: 30ish businessman looking like a "swinger" in acetate shirt with chest hair showing, double-knit bell bottoms, white belt, and white shoes. In this case white wheels on your Mini correspond to the white patent-leather shoes. You risk being laughable.

i love when my white 17" are as clean as razorz pic, granted this is only in the driveway after a wash. If you go for the IB get white, it pulls it all together. You will be cleaning them all the time though. The white also seem like a larger diameter wheel.

I have been toying with the idea of getting the 17"s chromed, and getting chrome mirror caps......

Soon. Right now I'm stationed in Minot, ND. Actually ordered my Mini over the phone and internet through Crown Mini of Richmond. Should be there before I show up at Langley in late August.
