Red Cooper Outside Temperature Sensor

In a Cooper with automatic air and the trip computer (temperature, miles to empty, average mpg, and average mph) does anyone know where the outside air temperature sensor is located? What temperature does it measure, the road surface, the air above the car?

TIA

The outside ambient temperature sensor on all MINI models is behind the lower front grille. So it measures whatever air surrounds it (i.e. still air when parked, rushing air when driving)

Its standard on every MINI, the On board computer tricks are just disabled on the lower spec cars.
The sensor compensates for standing or moving air situations somehow, so if its 28 in the carpark,
it'll be 28 on the road unless you find some shade.
