Offline | Hi to everyone at MINI2, just registered here so i thought i'd drop in and say hello to everyone, spent hours looking around the forum, brilliant, this is the best ever. my coopers now at the garage and is ready to be picked up on monday, she's a black and white, bonnet stripes, extra spots, SS+, Chilli, cd changer with boost other things i cant remember, to excited thinking about it. other half went in to make final payment yesterday but could'nt get to see it, "parked in a holding compound somewhere", was what the dealer and myself had agreed to say to her if she asked to see it, no way is she going to see it before i do (really bad, she'll kill me if she finds out and by the time she reads this it'll be to late). every minute seems to drag on, cant sleep at night because i'm constantly in a state of excitement, up till 4.30 this morning watching star wars, and if i'm not excited i'm worried in case something bad happens when i get the little blighter, keying, theft etc. does everybody go through this when they get a new mini ? anyway my question is, is it true that the car needs to be run for 1250 miles (read this in the forum somewhere) before you can really give it some welly, when i asked the dealer he said it was only something like 300 miles or so, bit confused, dont want to wreck car. when i get her i'll get some snaps taken and post them in the black and white gallery. cheers to everyone pubert |

Offline | Yep... it's 1250 miles for running the car in. Don't go over 4500 revs, and don't go over 90 mph. That's about it realy, and make sure you shift often, so not too much highway 6th gear driving... My cooper is now 16 days old and has 1756 miles on the meter... the mini just makes you drive ![]() Currently driving my Mini Cooper and having alot of fun! +10000 miles and counting. MC VR/W, man Airco, SS+, alarm, profile leather, sportseats, spoiler, radio boost, chrome pack, white racestripes, 16" 5 spoke rims, |

Offline | Pubert: I wouldn't have paid the final payment until you've seen and accepted/approved the car - not much you can do now though ![]() If you reject the car because of damage (internal or external) or because the spec is incorrect or something, they're gonna hate giving you a refund. You have the power if they haven't got your money yet. The £-signs spin round in their eyes as soon as you turn up and strangely that's when they get the red carpet out. Strange is that. |

Offline | yep i agree with you markw19, i would like to have waited to see the car first, but we got a bit sales waffle about how busy their going to be on monday and it would really help if we paid thursday/friday. the sales bloke has been really cool with us through the entire buying process and he made more of a pleasure than a chore, been really up front with us so we kind of trust him (famous last words!). we got the 16 inch 5 star painted alloys with the chilli pack, seen a bit of debate about those run flat tyres though, i dont understand it so i'll have to wait and see when we get the car. cheers pubert |

Offline | I would actually be offended if someone asked me to pay them £12,000+ up front, it's incredibly cheeky and unprofessional. If you ask them when they want paying, they should give you the option, not try and convince you into giving them the money earlier. There's nothing to be gained by you, so you're doing them a favour - a favour, when they don't move one inch on MSRP, and judging by the after-sales reports on here (and my own experience), the "pleasure" with the dealership/salesman will end as soon as you drive your new car away. Then again, you may be one of the lucky few to love your dealership :-) The money's just sat in their bank account for a few days more earning them more interest - you're paying them more basically by paying early, as well as any difficulties in rejection/etc. Not that much can be done now!! ![]() I'd see how you go with the runflats - 16's should be great. To be honest, I have 17's with runflats (SS), and the ride is perfect - so smooth on a good road, bit of tramlining on uneven roads which can be a bit of a fight with the wheel at speed, but you soon learn what to do and what roads to open up on. I'm even thinking of adding some lowering springs which may harden the ride even more - 16's will be softer of course, I'd see how you go. It's all personal after all :-) |

Offline | But the main thing is, look forward to Monday, not that you need me to tell you that! ![]() It'll fly by, and you'll be having a ball in your MINI in no time. Funny, I've had my MINI 6 weeks now - strange how this 6 weeks has totally flown by and the 9 weeks I had to wait for it seemed like a decade?!? That's life I suppose! Whatever excitement you feel now, it's the same everytime you get in your car and get to put your foot down on a nice, open, smooth winding road. You'll love it :-) |

Offline | i know what you mean when you said about once you drive off the forecourt, as long as the spec is ok when i go there to pick it up i'll worry about the after sale service later. all i know is i've got a week off work to get that baby broke in, cant wait. cant wait for the looks at work when i turn up in it, theres well over a dozen people in the office who want a small sample of the mini cooper experiance at lunch time, their just going to have to join the cue. just read october issue of mini mag, about the trip to nurmburgring, that looked an awesome trip, might have to give that try if another one is organised. also a bit of coverage for mini2.com at mini in the park. whats the attitide of the owners of the pre bmw minis like to the owners of the bmw minis, do they get on ok? or is there a bit of "thats not a real mini" going on, i've read a few articles somewhere that seem to give a bit of a mixed bag reception to the bmw minis? that would be real shame. |
