consumption figures

My cooper has recently gone through the 1250 miles run in period.

I as achieving a respectable 380 ish miles to the tank. This is around 35-37 mpg.

After going through the 1250 mile mark and fitting my whalen shift knob

I am now only getting around 300 miles to the tank full or about 27 MPG.

What a difference eh? she does get a bit thirsty when you push her.

Still she begs to be driven "sportily", I can't help myself.

Just thought I would share my stats, is this about normal?

Your getting similar figures to me - though I was not getting 380 at all even during the run in period The car is designed to be driven sportingly so do so and enjoy it, MPG will drop but that's life - I reckon on about 270-280 to a tank

Got Close to 720km out of my tank

I averaged 6.2L/100km the other day. Kept my speed at a steady 100km

Very Happy. Best yet i've got out if it.

my miles per tank got better after 30k miles. Since then, I always get 400 and usually 450. My record is 520 but that was taking it real easy. Also the computer said 0 miles to go so it must have been pretty empty.

Before I had a few miles racked up, my cooper was about the same as yours for consumption.

Once again I think we need to be careful with the US vs Imperial gallon thing. Makes a difference.

1 gallon [US, liquid] = 0.8326742 gallon [UK]

1 gallon [UK] = 1.2009499 gallon [US, liquid]

yeah but most of us have been talking miles until fill up and since all our tanks are the same size it should be a fair comparison

I've just come through the 1250 mile run-in period as well with my new Cooper, and my first 3 fill-ups were:

347 miles - 42 litres to fill up
385 miles - 45 litres to fill up
389 miles - 45 litres to fill up

That works out at about 37-39 mpg during the run-in.

First fill up after starting to have some post-1250 mile fun was 377 miles and 47 litres to fill up, which is about 36 mpg. I can see the mpg dropping quite a bit very shortly. Over 4,500 rpm is addictive!
