Offline | 0-60 on cooper Does anyone agree with me that the 0-62 time on the cooper seems to be quite a bit faster than 9.2 secs as stated. I have unproffesionally timed it with a stop watch at around the high 7's. I also took my mate up on an offer to race him in his 2.5 V6 24v Vectra SRI and kept up with him all the way. When it came to bends the cooper took the Mick as expected but the 0-60 time on the vectra is 8 secs. Another time was when I went out in the country side with my bird, a mate and his bird in my cooper so it was at full capacity and we were followed by another mate and his bird in a Saxo VTR. The full to bursting Cooper absolutley blitzed them off the road to say the least. I know the VTR is a bit slower but belive me this took the you know what!! DS/Black Cooper S, Chilli pack, Full leather, Climate DSC, Clear lights and 212 ponies Hartge kit. |

| Test thread infiltrator | Yes, it's lower than 9.2 - The official testing is done at around 3000ft above sea level in Germany. This affects results as the air is thinner at this altitude. Check out the events section and look for Silverstone. Go to trax this year and you can find out the time tested with proper equipment. I remember timing mine at mid-low 8's without traction control (with friend in car doing the timing), and high 9's with traction control on. I will accept though, this isn't exactly the most precise of methods! Try search for 0-60 or 0-62, you will probably find quite a few posts... Dom |

Offline | Hmm I suppose if you look at everybody other car manufacturer's figures then at the recorded figures you could get 8. Think about the Citroen Saxo VTS has 0-60 of 7.4 (or is it 7.0) but Top Gear only got 8.0 out of it. So if you go by Citroen's "Over estimate" say. of 0.6 seconds 0.6/8.0=0.075 and then times 0.075 by 8.6 you get 0.645 of a second. So the Citroen "offical" figures for a mini cooper would be 0-60 of 8.6-0.645= 7.955 which rounds to 8! ![]() Yes I was Bored when I decided to do this |

| Test thread infiltrator | If you can find a copy of January 2002 Revs magazine (yellow with red rover on front) and look at the saxo featured near the back, that's my mates. I can keep up with him on accelleration through the gears, and he has a very hard time trying to keep up through the twisties. The MINI has a far torquier engine as standard which probably helps compensate the weight difference. He's got an induction kit, manifold and straight through de-cat exhaust and we reckon mine feels as thought it's got more potential. They both go on the rollers at the end of April so we'll see what happens... Dom |

Offline | Hmmm a VTS, which my mate has got or a Mini Cooper? Hmm hard decision that NOT! I mean a MINI/BMW or a Citroen come on! NO seriously I was going to get a VTR as it was quick and free insurance, then my mate got one, (he traded it in for a VTS a month or so a go) so that went out the window, and nobody else did a simlar performance car as the VTR (they were all VTS terretory) with Free insurance. Then I happened to niop into the BMW garage to service the car and thought I'd have a look. Been hooked on having a Mini ever since! ROLL ON MAY!!! |

Offline | The VTR was out of it for definate for me as soon as I tried to sit in the drivers eat of my mates. Couldn't get my legs under the steering wheel. If I moved the seat further back it was uncomfortable. Plus have you seen the pedals!! God knows how my mate drives the thing! I have size 9's and had trouble he's size 11! |
