Does anyone know if you choose what colour mesh at the bottom of the front bumper you get? I have recently seen both chrome and black mesh on Indi blue Coopers and was unaware of any such choice. I personally hope I end up with the chrome variation as nothing was mentioned to me when I ordered.

Mines silver, it would look pretty naff in black. I didn't have a choice.

Scotty,

You would get chrome unless you ordered the bodykit which makes it black.

Cheers, Im hope thats the case but why have some of the cars at my dealership got the black mesh? they didn't have the Aero body kit.....

Sorry to be pedantic, but the Cooper has a stainless steel mesh grill. The One has a black grille.

Its easy to get the two mixed up given many One's have alloys and the Cooper is now available with body coloured roof. Perhaps this explains the mystery?

You know what I mean anyway!! now you've graced us with your presence what do you know about the 'Stainless Steel' mesh thing the one in the showroom at my dealer has definatly got black plastic? is this a BMW/MINI mistake or my eyes(I might check again, even Im starting to doubt myself!!)

Provided you are sure the Mini in the dealer's is a Cooper and not a One, then either

a) the wrong one has been fitted, or

b) they've downgraded the spec, just like they did with the interior door handles (even the humble Fiesta-based Puma has proper chrome interior door handles!)

That is a big reason I don't want the full aero kit on the Cooper. Love the chrome.

When you mentioned downgrading the spec do you mean BMW or by the choice of the buyer/dealer?

I meant BMW (though a little tongue in cheek). I wasn't asked if I wanted a black or stainless steel grill so it's not a standard option. I have seen a Cooper with steel wheels at a dealers though, so maybe the dealers can do "specials".
