Offline | Guys, Sorry I am new here; I just put a deposit today; I was wondering if anyone can suggest whether I should specify the features I want it or just have the dealer call me without giving them any detail specifications. I told them to have the sunroof and DSC but did not specify any color (cause I am still thinking) Do you think specifying everything will make my Cooper arrive sooner? Thanks |

Offline | Re: Newbie Needs Advice Aerodragon, where are you? (please update your profile - you can also identify your country so a flag appears when you post )The reason I ask is if you are in the UK or Europe, dealers have been selling MINIs for 6 to 9 months now, and seem (at least from my vantage point) to know what they are doing. In the US, Oz, Canada, etc. dealers are much newer to the MINI (and the MINI is much newer to them, too ) so they may, or may not ask you all the questions that need asking. You may well know more than they do! Plus, some things change on a daily basis (e.g. Xenon lights being not available )My advice is study the offical MINI site for your country, search through MINI2, ask questions of MINI2 members (you've already done that above ) and then discuss each part of your order in great detail with your dealer. Question everything. Obviously, you don't want any surprises and you don't want to find out later that you missed an option you really would have wanted, or a color choice or an accessory. Another thing you can do is talk to more than one dealer to see if you are getting the same answers from both of them. Good luck with your order! ![]() + 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather + 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed |

Offline | Bruce, I am in Georgia and I updated my profile now. I basically put deposit and the dealer mentioned to me to wait at most 3 months and they'll call but I did not give any specs to them ![]() |

Offline | I'd make a list of colors, options, accesories, you are considering and atleast give that to him...make sure to tell him which ones are for sure, and which ones are maybes, include any exclusions as well - like NO GPS for instance. This will give them more info to go on without really committing to anything yet. If you don't tell your dealer anything, they might not call you as quick as others. Cheers |

Offline | Do you want the black roof on the silver? If not i'm guessing you might be waiting longer and will have to special order that...maybe others can confirm this, but guessing not many solid roofs are coming in, specially in the silver - that seems popular w/ black roof. Cheers |

| MINI2 Regular | Have you looked in the Cooper gallery? There are many great photos (taken by Paul Mullett) in there of a Pure Silver/Black Cooper. I decided not to wait and chose a Pure Silver/Black Cooper, which is now at the port and waiting to be trucked to my dealer. The Indi Blue/white combo is also really nice but I'd have to wait longer for one with the options I wanted. Decided my Cooper MUST have the 16" silver wheels, chrome line bumpers, and the automatic A/C. All others options would be a bonus. This car is coming with the sunroof, which I think looks awesome with the black roof and I'm sure I'll appreciate. It also has leather (don't care), heated seats (don't care), and foglights (don't care).02 MINI Cooper - Pure Silver/Black Delivered 4/22 - 9,500 miles now!! - Premium package, chrome bumpers, foglights, 16" wheels, leather steering wheel, panther black leather seats, heated seats, accessory rear spoiler 02 Honda S2000 - Spa Yellow 02 Mazda Protege5 (Hers) - Midnight Blue Mica - Delivered 8/30/02!! |

Offline | Airborne, firebreathing person My understanding is that you order your MINI and it is made to your specification. Clearly, basic production goes on but they decided not to get into a 'dead-stock' situation. Hence the desirability factor of having to wait for it. Helps them no end! Only hope of getting one quickly is a cancelled order I guess? Then you don't get exactly what you want. |
