Offline | 17'' Alloys Can anyone advise me on whether to go for 17'' alloys on a Cooper I am about to order? What are the benefits? What difference does it make to the ride etc? Thank you! |

Offline | I originally had the 5 Star 16's fitted and have just had some 17" Kahn rss fitted with low profile 205/40/17 tyres. As far as the ride goes, you do feel imperfections in the road a little bit more (but thats only if your paying attention) but strangely enough the overall ride seems smoother to me. and thats with 205/40's not 205/45's.But as dcfkan said, who cares they look sweet. TC. |

Offline | Re: 17'' Alloys I had one of the first Coopers back in September 01, at the time i wanted the S Spokes (17's) but they were unavailable so i had to have the 16's. About a week ago i got some S Spokes and to be honest the ride is hardly any different. I think it depends on the type of suspension setup you opt for which is going to change the ride. SSP+ is hard, but by no means is it unacceptable - more fun if anything. The 17" S Spokes fill the arch a hell of a lot better than the 16's did and i personally think they look 10 times better. They are about the same grippyness on the road, although i haven't worn them fully in yet so i should think they'll get better than the 16's were. I don't regret getting the 17s one bit, if i were you i'd be opting for 17's, you'll kick yourself after if you don't! |

Offline | I have just posted in another wheel thread, but I will have to say pictures speak a thousand words, as much the aftermarket wheels that have been shown here look smart those S Spokes on Kinsters car just look fantastic and in my opinion are the only option to go for. I understand if they wern't available until recently but even if I had bought my car previous to there launch I would have still gone for them regardless of price (well!!!!) PS Kinster please stop showing your car off I have still got a couple of weeks to wait!!!!!! ![]() MINIless since 2nd of June @12:35pm 2003 |

Offline | no more high speed In my opion a cooper has to have 17 " rims, it looks so good. But you will have a little bit more understeer in the beginning of a fast corner, a lower high speed, because of the wider wheels, a handling which is a bit more nervous, because reactions of the car coming qicker espacially in cornerīs on bad roads. The comfort all in all is quite good enough. Cooper with SSP + an 215/45/17 I search the whole winter, to find wheels i like,in the there were jus these and some fom Ronal R 28. My ones looks original and impressive. Regards Cooper is the only way for pretty driving next to Alfa Romeoīs |

Offline | Get the larger wheels. I have the factory optional BBS style wheels with Pirelli PZero tires. Great ride and smooth. I have a Lotus Turbo 94 with 17s and its super as well. The larger wheels give the Cooper a very nice aggresive stance and appearance. Enjoy! Dave |

Offline | Re: Reliability I've had a new leather seat (bottom cover only), two new rear lights and an upgrade on the fuel sensor. Apart from that i've had no probs. The ride has been fine, i've had no left pull or anything serious. Here's a pic with my new wheels: |
