nope, vinyl decals come of CLEAAAAN without any damage to the paint or anything. Only way to damage the paint is if you do something wrong when removing the vinyl and scratch the paint.

I agree no damage. My friend bought a Cooper S with viper stripes but asked for them to be taken off, you can never tell they were there.

I love my Mini so much it's unhealthy!

Red face

Or you can go the cheaper route and get the magnetic stripes like what I got. Check out my pics for pics of what I mean. I got them from ministripes.com. You do have to be careful with them as they can scratch the can and need to be cleaned every once in a while. But I think they look very good.

I have a black MINI that had bonnet stripes for one year. After removal the paint that was never exposed to the sun was noticeably darker upon close inspection. The stripes have been off for a full year now and the daily sun exposure has evened everything out and the sharp lines where the stripes once were are imperceptible.

gee thanks guys for all the replies. never thought i'd get that many, so thank you for all of them. in reality i'm not thinking of having stripes put on. i wanted to turn the graphics shop that i went to loose on ideas for the car. what he came up with was an enlarged and slightly modified mini "badge" on each of the doors that would also travle from just about arch to arch. the round part of the badge would be modded to "a slight oval" with custom fonts for the lettering. it's on the drawing board now! since this is the same material that they make stripes out of is the reasoning for me asking to strip or not, not knowing what the adhesive on the stripes would do to the paint once and if removed. just looking for individuality. don't know whether to go forward with this or not. he's doing a trial on paper first for me to view and decide. what do you fellow mini'ers think?

A Cooper without stripes is like toast without marmalade, peaches without cream, Laurel without Hardy etc IMO that is

I've been told that if I get the stripes I'd need to get the spot lights to tie the whole look together. How do people generally feel about this?

Spots are very nice, but only buy them if you plan on using them a lot. Anyone buy only the lights and brackets a la carte (without the harness)?
