I had a '52 reg mini cooper in 2002-2003 and my wife has never quite got over the sale of it. We have decided to go for another one and would like to hear about build quality - whether they have ironed out those rattles and squeaks and rattling tailgates and the like.

Have they announced when new engines will be available and also what are the spec changes for 2005 model year?

I should have added are they now offering a discount? - two years ago they weren't!

Still no discount and still lengthy waiting lists. I take delivery of my new MCS next month, having had my Cooper for just over 2 years. From driving a demostrator 05 model the car feels more substantial and build quality on the face of it seems to have improved considerably.

There are more details of the changes with the 05 model elsewhere on the site including some of the additional changes which are being made with the Jan 05 build cars. The new engines so far as I' m aware aren't due for a while 2006/2007 so will proabably conincide with the next generation MINI.
