Are Mini Coopers Collectables?

Reason I asked this question is that I normally dont stay with the same car for more than five years. However, with my new mini cabrio its a different story alltogether, I feel as if there is a new member in the family and i would pamper it as if it was my baby, starting with the stripes, and the flash lights going to stickets etc.

Are mini coopers collectable, what do you guys normally do, trade it with better coopers, or keep it as much as possible for years and years?.

Well the fact the next generation MINI in my opinion is going to be horrid looking (), I'm definitely going to be keeping my MINI forever....

So if the new MINI is not very popular with the public, then our MINIs will definitely become very collectible I'd imagine....

Pamper it will and it will give you the best rides of your life!

It's a proper time for this question to be carefully examined, again. I'll propose that we use salim's question to take this up now.

There will be some models, various editions, a few classic colors, special equipment, or low build volumes that tip particular VINs to a "collectable" status... some day. It will happen, but for most of the fleet it's important to remember that they are, just cars.

We should first agree on what "collectable" means. Does the word mean "desirable" (in the future), or "valuable", or "rare", or "an experience", or something else?

I'd propose we use the word "desirable" because my own opinion is that prices will drop dramatically when the new car shows in 2006, creating a vibrant, exciting, but VIN-consuming, used MINI market.

The desirable cars will be bought, sold, modified, wrecked, fixed, raced, and "used up" over time. A few of the 1st Generation MINI will be desirable, rare, and an experience to own. Thirty years from now, some of you will want one AGAIN, so at that point a few may become valuable too. At least that's how I see it at this point.

A perfectly acceptable way to enjoy cars, but more expensive than buying one that will serve you longer by keeping your excitement and challenge alive. All cars depreciate, until other factors cycle very, very few of them back up.

Buy a very good choice, and drive it until the wheels fall off!

We still LOVE our 1967 Austin Cooper S 1275. This is a vehicle that was voted onto the list of alltime favorites, one of the 50 cars you must own before you die. It generated the front wheel drive format used globally today, thus very influencial. In America, 1967 (the last year they were legally imported) is a key model year Mini to own. It is a collector car, but not wackko valuable. Simply great fun to drive!

So, here are some of the other Threads where people put effort into figuring our this important question. Let's have some fun with this:
"Are MINI Coopers collectable?"

Historically speaking- what version of the Mini will be the most valuable?

What'll be Worth More in 10 Years.......???

Are the MINI brochures collectable??

Mini Flyers.. Does anyone else collect them?
