I am looking for any ideas or anybody who might have installed the turbo kit from TSI. I found one on turbo-kits.com and wondered about it's value. I also found an extreme kit with an intercooler and fuel management which seems even better. But I wonder about the job ahead and the reliability of the car afterwards. Any help?

Hey Mr,

I've been looking at the WCFI Turbo kit for the Mini over the past few days, I dont know if its the same one youve been looking at, but it also includes an injector control unit.

Im still waiting for a reply from the company, they are very vague with any information about the kit on specific vehicles. They also given no indication as too the BHP gains and performance, and no information as to warranty on the engine.

Its something i really want to do but have heard conflicting sotrys from differnt companys, for example 2 years back a BMW magazine ran a very small article about a Turbo kit in production, they said the cylinder head and gearbox had to be changed to cope with the extra torque. When i spoke to Cool New who where testing an AMD turbo kit, they said they had got 260BHP out of the Cooper with additional modifications, but hadn't had to change the head or gearbox. (and apparantly AMD warranteed the engine for a year after the install)

You cant seem to get an answer out of any of these companies.

If i get a reply about the details of this kit, i will post them.

Okay, I made the jump and am awaiting the delivery of the TSI extreme kit. Hopefully for now I'll have to take it easy on the trans. until I can upgrade it or something, but I'll try. I update when it is in. Anybody got any info on swapping the 5 spd for a 6 spd, simple transfer or what???

Amazing, please keep us updated on how this turbo kit performs in your car. As for the gear box change its a straight forward proceedure. you can also pick up a gear box and gear from a breakers yard for around $1200 going on current exchange rates.

I am also thinking seriously about turbo-charging my baby and I am searching all over the internet. Do you have any further detailed info about the turbo-kits.com turbo kit????
