Offline | ride qualities with diff. suspension and tires? i plan on gettin both, but for now the cooper. i want it to be smooth on the road. so should i just get suspension plus with the 15" all season tires? will the 16" run flat performance tires make the ride really stiff or just a litte? i like both wheels so i dont care about looks i just plan on skooting around from here to there as gas prices sky rocket is it tires or tyres? never mind ![]() |

Offline | I test drove a base Mini with 15 inch wheels and a Mini with the sport package with standard suspension but 16 inch wheels on our rather rough rural roads here in Vermont before going with the upgraded package. (Delivery is about a month away!) Yesterday, a local dealer had a 2002 MCS with only 1,600 miles on it, so I went for a test drive. A long test drive! This car had the sport suspension plus, and 17 inch wheels. Pros: I absolutely loved the supercharger -- above 3000rpm it was like being kicked from behind it took off so fast! And I liked the 6 speed gearbox. Cons: The ride was very harsh. Uncomfortably so. Now granted, I live in rural Vermont where the post-winter roads are in pretty bad shape, but those conditions are a fact of life for us, so the S package was not for us. Folks with better roads might feel differently, but the ride alone made me glad I had not opted for the S package. So my longwinded way of answering your question would be with another question. What are your road conditions and driving style? I personally found the stock suspension with 16 inchers quite comfortable despite all the bumps. pb |

Offline | On a MC with the regular suspension and 16 inch run flats on rough pavement...I didn't think so. In the S with 17 inchers and stiffer suspension, my fillings fell out. pb |
