Hi all,
What's everyone getting for average mpg? I've done just over 300 miles in my Cooper auto and average mpg is showing as 26.5 mpg which is pretty poor I think! I have had the air con on automatic at 21 degrees but have now put it on the lowest setting at 23 degrees. I'm not the most economical driver in the world but I don't drive like a lunatic either, so it's quite strange it's so low. I used to get around 34 mpg on average on my Cooper Sidewalk convertible auto...
That is poor, ive ordered cooper manual .Not here yet but if its that low might as well have gone for cooper s .
New cars ive had in the past always get better with milage so hopefully yours should improve .
I've just passed 1000 miles, and got 325 out of my last tank. The computer has been showing an average of 31-33 mpg - I'm really hoping it gets better.
But then 26mpg for a Cooper is even worse! However, if you got more than 300 out of the tank, then the mpg should be higher than 26mpg as the tank only holds 47 litres which is 10 gallons.
Hi all. Only done 200 odd miles in my cooper S manual as only picked up on the 23rd Dec. Mostly motorway miles but 40 odd fairly "spirited" miles, well as best you can in current weather conditions. MPG is showing 28 at mo.
Not too concerned with this figure as it will improve as the engine and drivetrain "loosens up" besides this is our second car so my company audi will be doing the most of the family miles.
Other things to note (all my own opinions )
1. It's a cooper S, not a prius!
2. All4 versions will always show worse mpg than fwd versions? Not sure on official figures
3. Stop/start not working at mo (dealer says car won't use tech if temp too low)
4. Heaters, screen heaters, lights etc on full all the time due to weather - these are not good for mpg
Will take a view on the mpg after a decent time duration and after doing some miles. Car is fantastic btw!!!
I have about 700 miles on my Countryman S All4 and I'm a little concerned I'm avg. 20 MPG, city driving. I think it should be closer to 30. Any ideas as to the "Why". I love my Mini and enjoy driving it, but 20 seams very low.
Thought I'd take this opportunity to update my report on fuel consumption.
After 25 days of ownership & 400 miles, mpg has risen from 23mpg on the initial tankful to now 33mpg on mixed motoring.
On that basis, the signs are looking hopeful that as it is run in, further improvement may be possible, although that will be tempered by more exciting useage. Only time will tell.
I've done just over 700 miles on mine and consumption is showing an average of 27.8 mpg (slightly higher than the initial 26.5 but still not great; I haven't reset the meter at all) and I'm trying to accelerate and slow down gradually to improve the situation. I'm hoping it'll improve as the car runs in...Time will tell.
1200 miles just reached. Run in completed. No signs of improvement in mpg.
28mpg is all that I am currently achieving, albeit mostly relatively (2-4 miles) short runs, but with a light foot.
