| New tyre fitted So I got in the car yesterday, drove to the end of the road and the tyre pressure light came on. Pulled over and found the head off an electric screwdriver sticking in the edge of the rear tyre. Grrrr.... not the front tyre of course which is half worn now... returned home in a huff. I don't have runflats or a spare!
Rang around for a new one met with "gosh thats an unusual size, its not even on our system!" in half the places. Kwik Fit (who I would never use anyway but I ttry them first for a base price) quoted £158 for the Continental Premium Contact 2, as I wanted it to match the rest of the tyres. Finally managed to find a local family owned place who quoted £140 with next day fitting. This was the first Countryman tyre they would have fitted.
Went down the next day to have it done... AAARGH! No locking wheel nut key! Didn't remember having been given the usual box with spare nuts in but I went home to check. Couldnt find them, the reason being it turns out is that it was in the car all along hidden behind a panel in the boot. Grrrr... wish I had sat down and read ALL the manual!
Tyre fitted anyway and eventually I worked out how to reset the tyre pressure warning. Hmph. At least I had my own compressor in the car so I didnt need to use the can of stuff, although I think the hole was too big for the can of stuff anyway after reading the manual. |
