JCW Countryman Test Drive

I had to drop my Countryman off to have the thermostat recall today so I called into the showroom to have a look at the new JCW Countryman that had just arrived. So naturally I took it for a drive.

First thoughts ..... It doesn't feel all that different from my own. It felt very smooth, the new clutch much lighter than mine and the gear box too and this was a car with only 12km on the clock. Yes there appears to be more power but not a huge difference (maybe because the engine was new). The ride was what surprised me especially with the 19" rims. I love the body kit and exhaust.

I was worried that I would return it wishing that I had waited before buying mine but that is not the case. When I'm looking at a change over then yes I will consider it but not until then.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

I have the 2011 S Countryman with Sport Package and Automatic ( wife's car ), scoots along good. JCW really does not have much more HP but suspension and brkes are an upgrade, cost mostly is body kit. I just drove a 2013 loaner during a recent service and did not appreciate the softer suspension.

Saw - Was the ride stiffer or comparible to the Cooper S c/w sport suspension and 18" wheels?

Hey Blackhawks. I've got sports suspension on 18" and didn't find the ride that different at all. In fact it almost felt smoother if that is possible. Fortunately, we have relatively smooth roads around here, so I don't find the sports suspension an issue.
