Left my Countryman parked outside for a week last week in some bad rain. Normally it spends most of its time parked undercover both at home and work. On getting in the car for the first time in a week, it stank of rotting vegetables. Finally realised that the carpet under the floormat in the passenger footwell was wet. Waiting for dealer to book it in. Anybody else had this problem?
I have had this is I park my car against the traffic (car facing against the traffic). I wonder if it is because of the camber on the road the water is running down and under the seal. Only modes it on the passenger side and fortunately I have rubber mats so doesn't soak into the carpet.
Footwell soaked and leaking roof - Mini cooper convertible
HELP!! I bought my car new and it is now 6 years old. I noticed last week that the footwell on the front passenger seat is wet through - I'm presuming this is due to the heavy rainful over the past couple of weeks.I have read that this is a common problem and that the seal may need replacing. I also noticed that the inside of the roof lining is damp and mould has started to develop. I am taking my car to mini tomorrow at a cost of £110 just to take a look at it. Please can someone advise if this has happened to them before and how it was resolved. I don't want to spend a fortune if the problem can be easily fixed at a reasonable price. Any feedback welcome! Thanks so much!

2016 mini countyman water leaking into front passenger side
I purchased a NEW MINI COUNTRYMAN 2016 and now noticed that the passenger side floormat and carpet is WET and it happens when it rains. I checked, and it does not appear that it is from above so I assume it's coming from the LEFT DOOR. Does anyone have the same problem and what have they done about it? I am concerned that if electrical connections are under the passenger side they can be ruined. Is this something that can be fixed or is it a design problem? I love my MINI, but do not feel that I should have to deal with this problem from a BRAND NEW CAR !!! The reason I ask is because I have read several comments about the same problem, and not being able to fix it. Question, if it is a design problem and can't be sealed properly, what does a NEW MINI CAR OWNER,,,DO
2011 Countryman ALL4 owner, last 2 times it's rained my passenger footwell is soaking, I thought it's coming through the window seal as a puddle on the top of the door frame, have to have a diagnostic check to find out, but this must be a common fault with countryman's?!
I've had this problem several times. It turned out to be the plastic scuttle cover. It merely needed fitting back into the lower windscreen seal. It's an easy job; just push it back in by hand. My car had been back to the dealer several times, but now I've discovered the problem, I just keep my eye on it. It hasn't leaked since. Good luck
Not looked, but on previous cars there is a gutter running the length of the car, underneath the doors. When this gets blocked by road detritus and salt, the water inside looks for other ways out, usually up and into the footwells. There is usually a plug at the front and rear that can be removed and you can poke a stick down it to dislodge the crud that is blocking the gutter.
Keep all drains on door bottoms free of debris, clean weatherstrip occasionally. Check under wipers/bonnet for debris and keep drains clear. Sunroof drains will need to be cleaned occasionally along with rear hatch seal. Under car is a rubber valve by tunnel for A/C drain, must be cleaned if A/C not puddling under car. All in washing and cleaning car. ( in the manual ). Wife's 2011 Countryman S stays dry.
Our 2016 Clubman, we have had for about a year, suddenly has sopping wet foot wells on both sides of the front. We did drive in some heavy rain the other day. His is our third mini, but never had this problem before.
Hi I'm having the same issue on a 2012 Countryman, Please call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration 1-888-327-4236 and file a CLAIM explaining about this water leak they might make a recall about this problem depending on how many people call and file claims. Thanks!

yes,my cooper is in Mcooper now with the same problem, told me it was worn door seal,(63 plate),and water got into the electric module (under the passenger footwell), and buggered it,(£500 new), I'm not convinced it's wear and tear!
Yes, mines in mini cooper now, getting a new door seal, unfortunately the water had got into the electric module under the passenger footwell, and now it's ruined at the cost of £500, just for the module, which controls all your lights,so plus the door seal and fitting,vat....I'm looking at£1000+, I pick it up tomorrow,so I'll let you know, my advice is,get it into a garage Asp.
Hi got same problem. Originally in back of my Mini 64 Countryman but now in front and back footwell. The water is really bad and stinks. Car is so damp. Guess what rang the Mini Agents "NO RECALL ON THIS FAULT". My floor on the car is bloody soaked. Looked on the web and did find some solutions regarding why this is. There are UTUBE sites where people had same problem surprised me to see HOW MANY. It can cause electrical faults due to electrics under the carpet. THIS IS SO WRONG. It isnt as if my car is old. Problems can come from sun roof, mine has now stopped worked and goes up and down but not back. Could be a fault there where it is blocked. Also can be caused from the scuttle panel bottom of the windcreen and bonnet. These 2 things are basically cause of problems. Taking car into a garage we know and hopefully will resolve the issue. Got wet carpets everywhere. De Humidifier probably best dry out the car. But this will happen again unless you find the fault and rectify it. Also the car is 7 years old now and no warranty on it. WHAT A LAUGH, Paid £10k this car had it 3 years and this is a common fault. Wouldnt have bought it if I had known. Put me right off the car. Lets all try and do something about this and NAME AND SHAME THEM FOR KNOWING ABOUT THIS FAULT AND DOING NOTHING ABOUT IT. Sandra Shakespeare
Yup, same problem with mine. It is a tiny leak that I can see comes in at a single point under the door into the footwell, but it has pretty much ruined the car as I never got to the bottom of it and the lights now flicker and often the key gets stuck and I can only turn it off by stalling the car. Mines a 2007 Cooper and if it’s 1500 to fix as has been quoted on here then I might as well give it to the scrap man. It’s been a fun car to drive, but I wouldn’t get another one, too many problems and mini are a rip off to get things fixed
I'm having the same problem with my mini countryman 2013 reg , this needs the attention of Mini for it seems a common problem and most garages won't attempt to fix it
Hi, I have my mini one convertible 3 years now and have never had any bother with the roof leaking. However, since winter has started this year it's been nothing but bother.
It seems like there is water getting in through the seals where the roof folds and it's leaving water stains and mildew on the seats, condensation, puddles on the floor and damp seats. I've had a look online to see what the problem may be, and was recommended the Sonax Rubber Protectant GummiPfleger, but even after using that it's still the same. There is now also condensation droplets on the inside of the roof.
Has anyone ever had this problem before, or might be able to help? Nobody in my area specialises in convertibles and it's my first of its kind, so I'm a bit lost. There is a mini factory but they are charging £100 per hour to look at it, and I'm hesitant in case they over-charge me when it might be easy fixed.
Hi there!
The same thing happens with my car- Mini Cooper Clubman 2008, diesel, Europe. The passenger's side footwell comes wet. This happens only after couple of hours after rain finishes. Where the water accumulates? Do You have an idea?
Thank You!
