England Metallic twang or rattle braking over bumps

I have a really annoying problem on my Countryman SD ALL4

When I brake and hit a grating, or a pot hole in the road, you get the usual bump from the (harsh) suspension, but then there is a metallic "twang" from the rear. When you release the brake pedal, it disappears.

it lasts for a few seconds, as long as you are still on the brake pedal. It sounds a bit like a rattling heat shield, but it only happens when you brake (something ABS?), and stops when you release the brake pedal.

The dealer had the car back yesterday, but couldn't find anything - despite hearing it in a test drive, so they know its there.

Does anyone have any ideas what this could be?

The brakes have sheet steel splash shield at the back of the disc that runs fairly close and a twang might be that touching as you apply the brakes, but I would have thought the dealers would have looked at that?
