Connor's Day: Huddersfield, make a child's wish come true, 8th Septmeber 2012

Hey guys. I was very touched with this story where a Huddersfield dad went on a Scooby forum saying that his 11 yo kid is dying of brain cancer and he knows nothing about it. He's got just a few weeks life left so he's trying to make a dream come true: a car show before he passes away. The boy knows nothing so you can immagine how hard it is for him.

There was an immediate response to the event. Overnight over 200 people and their cars committed themselves. It was first reserved for Scoobys but is now any car. As can be seen on the forum, all types of cars will be there so I think a strong MINI presence will be very well appreciated. If I manage to take the day off, I will try to take my Cooper SD there together with a mate who'll try and see if his (yes...) Austin Princess will make it from West Sussex.

The event is supposed to be in an industrial park. However given the strong response it may be transfered to a larger airfield.

losing my son please help - ScoobyNet

Could some of us dedicate some time and drive up there on the 8th September - all starts at about midday

Please pass the message on to even your biggest rivals. It's for a good cause.

This is the link to the Scooby Owners Club, his dad is a member and is bravely organising this himself. There are some of the N.E. MINIs going along.

Have added the links for you - thanks S8RAH for the ScoobyNet post.

Will see if I can make it there on the day. Have also forwarded the post to a few friends with nice cars, including a Scooby owner on the off chance that he hasn't seen this already. I have a mate whose fella has an Evo X too, so will mention it to her tomorrow and ask if she can pass on details.

Amazing cause, thanks for posting - the thread on ScoobyNet is heartbreaking. Here's hoping for a good turnout on behalf of young Connor.
