Brooklands Mini Day Sunday, March 24, 2013

All types of Mini (including the modern BMW MINI) are invited to this annual event, so expect displays in all areas of the Museum grounds. We had over 1,000 Minis on site last year and we are hoping to squeeze in even more this year. From the oldest to the newest, this year’s event will see some of the earliest Minis nestling among the hundreds of Minis and their variations such as Vans, Pickups and Mini Mokes parked within the Museum grounds.

As in previous years, Test Hill will be in action with both morning and afternoon runs - places are limited and advanced booking is required. We will also be holding a ‘Show N Shine’ competition and prizes will be awarded for the top two cars in each class.

The proposed timetable for the day is as follows:
8.30am Gates open for pre-booked ticket holders
9.00am Gates open to the public and Minis/MINIs without tickets
11.15am-12.00 Test Hill in action
1-1.45pm Show’N’Shine Judging
2.15-3pm Test Hill in action
3.45pm Show’N’Shine prize giving
5.00pm Event closes

Dozens of clubs will be in attendance - we already have bookings from, Surrey New MINIs, Club Mini Classics, Modified Mini Owners Club, Elf Hornet Register, Brighton Mini Club, Mini Club Sussex, Box Hill Mini Club, Kentish Mini Club, Thames Valley Mini Club, East Coast Mini Club, Errrmm ..Mini Club GB, North Sussex Mini Owners Club, Portsmouth & Southampton Mini Owners Club, Mini Cooper Register, Southern Mini Club, Waltham Abbey Mini Club, Essex Mini Club, Surrey Hills Mini Club, West Sussex Mini Club, HAMOC, Old Skool Mini Club, Bournmouth Mini Club and Basingstoke Mini Club. If you would like to apply for advanced tickets or you are representing a Club, please get in touch as soon as possible using the contact details below.

We will be holding a Best Dressed Club Stand competition again this year but with a different theme so check back here to see what it will be!

Minis/MINIs will enter the site via the Campbell Entrance off Brooklands Road, with visitors in non-Minis parking in the Heights off Wellington Way - please follow event signage.

Hope the weather is better tomorrow........

Weather update - Saturday 10am
There has been a little snow overnight but it is not settling and the Museum is open as usual. For updates on the forecast overnight and tomorrow for Mini Day, please check here, but we expect the event to go ahead as planned and we hope as many minis as possible can make it.

You mean I've just washed my car in the snow and there's a chance it could be called off!

Very unlikely to be called off as Brooklands is reported to have little or no snow on the ground now but check the Brooklands website in morning and wear a warm coat!

Weather update - Saturday 4pm
The Museum was open as usual today and any snow soon disappeared. For updates on the forecast overnight and tomorrow for Mini Day, please check here, but we expect the event to go ahead as planned and we hope as many minis as possible can make it.

Went along today. Lasted 2 and half hours (got there at 9.00) before the cold, damp and sleet did what it does best. Such a shame. Left when anouncment saying the hill might not go ahead (safety reasons). Bloody winter goes on and on.....
