MINI ownership a disappointment for owners.

According to the AutoExpress driver power survey, MINI ownership does not please its owners very much. It finished a lowly 65 out of 100.

As a manufacturer, the MINI brand finished behind the now defunct MG brand.

Aah yes. . . Auto Express - the Sunday Sport of the motoring press. . . Doubtless next week's headline will be:

'Elvis alive and well, living on the moon in a Talbot Sunbeam Estate together with Marilyn Monroe and Noddy' . . .

And then, because I was particularly annoyed, Top Gear's survey, 25/159

Who needs a survey to put a smile on your face when you have a MINI.

Its all down to expectations and the type of people who drive each car.

Someone who drives a basic Corolla has fairly low expectations and hopes and is probably not enthusiastic or interested about it.

Someone who drives a MINI has sky-high expectations for the car and even small things can shatter this "illusion"...

I would agree except in this case, with both JDPA and Top Gear having a totally different version of perceptions, I would say someone is out to lunch .......and that someone is AutoExpress.....

I had a look at the results & the MINI only came low on ride quality comfort and practricality but much better in all the rest. If you took those three out it would have been much higher. The whole report was not very good as the cars were each rated in isolation so if you had a car which was generaly good then I think the people would tend to score the results in each catagory higher and also the reverse. You were ending up with one car rated higher than another in a paarticular catagory which was obviously silly.
