Pride taken a bit of a bump?! not even the slightest. I completely recognise that the Fiat is the latest must have little car to have. It looks good, is well specced and seems to get a good NCAP rating. I'm sure it's a great car to own and drive.
My argument is that it is silly comparing two cars on a track which are achieving different things. The 500 1.4 Sport is clearly a luke warm sporty offering, the MINI One is the basic spec MINI. Yes there is a significant price difference, but then you wouldn't think twice about comparing a Civic Type R against a Golf GTI.
Sport is merely a trim level (less chrome, rear spoiler, front foglights, sporty seats, black dials). It handles or performs no differently to any of the other trim levels when fitted with the same engine.
The results of this particular comparison would have been no different had they used a 1.4 Pop or 1.4 Lounge.
My wife said that the first time she saw one. I "borrowed" one t'other day and took it to a meet and once everyone had stopped laughing , a few people noticed the glaring similarity especially from the rear threequarter view
