In afraid any car thats only worth £1588 for a 4 year old top of the range model with 40K on the clock is not good

So im thinking that by then a 51 reg (12 year old) early basic mini ONE with 120K on the clock will still be worth more than the 4 year old Fiat!

I'm sure that figure is very accurate.

Even if it was which it clearly isn't who buys a brand new car as an investment?
As Mini owners you should know brand new cars are fashion accessories.

Oh and of course the Micra looks a bit like the 500. That is what Nissan were copying.

The 2002 Nissan Micra is copying the new Fiat 500, unveiled at the 2004 Geneva Motorshow?

Saw my first 08 Yesterday it was a 500 in White liked the big chrome bumper across the back seen that before somewere but theres just too much body and not enough glass area think thats what I hve been trying to work out when I look at them.

Heres a pic thats been sat in my Gallery for a while shows I am not a Fiat Hater

But is that why you bought it?
I'm not trying to say one thing or the other. But people need to stop deluding themselves as to why they do things.

Its one of the reasons why I stuck with Minis and not another brand.
its also why I have been able to have four in the last six years and not lose loads each trade in.

And besides lighten up 3 posts in and your giving the gaffer roll eyes when he has a valid point.
Look if the 500 is selling all over the world in 6 years well know your right wont we?
.... sets reminder on outlook calender goes to put Mini away as its just snowed heavily and I didnt notice.

Yes in no way can you argue that a car is an investment, but even so the low depreciation makes the MINI a much more affordable car. If it depreciated like other cars I wouldn't be on my second.

I personally like the Fiat, I do like slightly quirky cars and cars that appear to have a personality.
It's not particularly suprising that he car with slighly more BHP and less weight is quicker either. But theres not much in it and it wouldn't really bother me which car won, I would still pick the MINI cos I like them more.

With regards to depreciation MINI is helped considerably by the BMW connection which rightly or wrongly will, for the foreseeable future, keep the residuals higher than the Fiats.
If you want a 500 best buy one now and flog it in the next 6 months while the newness is still there if you don't want to lose too much.

A majority of 500s for sale at the moment aren't commanding a premium at all.

If you want premium wait for the Abarth - Only going to be sold from specialist Abarth dealers, only going to be around 10 so. I think that will command quite a large premium.

Fiat did a 500 'estate' originally, and it sounds like you're referring to the Castagna conversion that's been on show at Geneva.

Mini/MINI didn't/don't do everything first, and not everyone is copying them all the time.

Looks to me like Fiat have been copying the Mini all along!
