Five have seemed very much in cahoots with Fiat, and although I think this is an unfair contest based on price of the vehicles, I would be very surprised to see the 500 come out less than favourably.
If it's anything like the last 5th Gear road tests of the MINI Cooper D and Clubman it will tell us nothing useful about the cars but this time it might be different....................
Don't get me wrong the 500 seems like a great little car, but pitching the fastest 500 against the slowest MINI (just because they're the closest in pricing) is not the basis for a track test. Given the Fiat has more power and weighs 200kg less it should have been more than one second quicker than the MINI around the track. Shows how good a standard MINI is. But to be fair to the Fiat, Vicki did say it felt more 'alive'. I can't wait for the test between the Abarth SS and the Cooper S.
I never really thought much of 5th Gear. TBH the 500 surely shouldn't be put up against Mini due to how small it is.
I'm going of topic but I don't think much of those 2 baffoons who can't even drive who where doing the VW campers. They just rip of other shows but there comps are good.
I don't know, I can see their point. What their saying is "For around £xxxxx you can have a MINI or a 500 and the 500 goes round the track better, so if that's what you're after (performace), the Fiat is better value for money"
