Is It MINI or Mini

There is a argument going on, on Wikipedia about the BMW MINI Article about whether it should be BMW Mini or BMW MINI for the title and Mini or MINI for the article.

There is one user who keeps changing the title and every 'MINI' in the article to Mini.

What do you think?

Personally I think it's neither. It should be plain MINI as that is the brand name. BMW doesn't come into it. They own the company yes, but the brand is MINI. It was never FORD Jaguar, or FORD Aston Martin was it?

But off my soap box it is MINI. The capitals distiguish it from the classic Mini

Yeh, I know about the BMW bit, I put it because as far as I am aware Wikipedia put it so people can clearly tell the difference by just looking at the title.

I can't stand the idiotic way Wikipedia is (mis)run, really think it sucks.

As for the capitalisation, It's MINI, always has been, always will be. Mini is for the 'Classic' Mini. And it never has been referred to officially as the BMW MINI, like the Jaguar or other examples given beforehand have never had their parent company name stuck on as a prefix.

I always use "MINI" meaning BMW MINIs and I've seen people use both distinguishing between the Original Mini & the BMW MINI and I've taken it as that what it means, Mini or mini = Original and MINI = BMW, but then again I've seen people use both or all three mini, Mini, MINI in the same post on the same Mini / MINI so too some people it doesn't seem too matter .

I need too get a life though .

The only time I put BMW before the MINI is just to make sure readers know exactly which model I'm ranting on about eg: 1st Gen BMW MINI, and not just BMW MINI, due too the 2nd Gen (also to some the 1st Gen may mean too them, the Original, I'm probably wrong on that , but I bet someone has queried it at some-point, somewhere ).

Also...

MINI One/D

Mk II MINI

it goes on...

Good grief, the more I read it, the more it contradicts itself and appears scattered with errors. Load of twaddle.

JCW made a MINI ONE S Works?!?!?

Quickly, spread the news fellow MINI2ers!!! Climb high upon the mountaintops and...
*some 45 minutes pass*

...thus ensuring that once and for all...

*yet more time elapses*

...cometh to pass that thou shalt...
*maybe you should go for a coffee/tea and come back?*

...fall down on your knees and beg for deliverance...
*hey, this is starting to go a bit - erm - unusual now.*

...and sacrifice the...
*whoops, fast-forward, fast-forward - I say!*

...and, in doing so, will inherit the road. Amen.
*what - is it over?*

Yes. It's over.
*oh good.*

And for the record... I concur with those honourable MINI2ers who have gone before me:
Mini = Classic Mini
MINI = BMW 1st/2nd Generations of MINI
All the best,

It's MINI

MINI (all capitals) is the brand name of the car built by BMW, to distinguish it from the original Mini (now referred to as the "classic" Mini).

However, BMW actually own both brand names, having inherited the original name from Rover. They recently acted to stop a microcar builder on the continent using the name Mini as a prefix to their car name (forget what it was!)

This is just like the Mk/Version/Revision/Generation argument all over again.....

Always thought that it was Mini for Classic's and MINI for the next generation.

Its a very difficult job and the only way to get through it is we all work together as a team.....

That just reminds me of sad bitter classic Mini owners too much.

And I'm a classic Mini owner.
