Offline | Small print in this case won't stand up as it goes against the terms laid out in the press code of conduct which all editors have to abide by, this clearly doesn't. Problem is journo's print the stuff and use they're small print, as a get out clause, complaint is made and they put a minute apology in an obscure column. They don't care, by then its too late as all and sundry have seen what they have written and few see any apology. How many times have you heard/ seen this happen. |

| Banned | I've dealt with Autocar on more than a few occasions, my company used to 'leak' breaking stories to them on behalf of BMW, Audi and Land Rover when new cars were due out. During the time I dealt with the team there I can honestly say they were a stand up bunch and personally I'm shocked they've changed your email to that extent, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have been a journo who's been there a while, more likely a newbie wanting to get the editors attention. Trust me, fleet street journo's and true car journo's are a world apart. I'd drop either Chas Hallet or Hilton Holloway an email saying your not happy and I'm sure you'll find a free 6 months subscription waiting for you. |

Offline | Right for those of you who wont get to see this weeks Autocar, this is what has been published.... THE CLUTCH STOPS HERE I would just like to put the record straight in respect of the letter you incorrectly published in Autocar (30 April) about my Mini Cooper D. The e-mail was only asking under what circumstances your test vehicle failed to restart, in the hope that it could help my local Mini dealer to locate the fault. The problem has now been fixed, by replacing the clutch pedal sensor. I was not 'scared of dipping the clutch' because of the stop-start system; I stated that I was 'conscious of making a single clutch operation in traffic'. Im impressed, they havent re-worded it as much this time and it says what I actually put in the email, glad they got the hint finally! |
