Top Gear "best price"

In the back of the October issue of BBC Top Gear magazine, they have a "TG best price/source" column.

They list the MINI One at £9276 and the MINI Cooper at £10,475. These are both EU sourced.

Does anyone have any further details? Anyone tried importing one?

I'm not sure I'd have the confidence to do that, given the number of faults people have been encountering. I'd rather be able to go back to the supplying dealer to get any problems sorted out.

The high number of faults is the one things that makes me hesitate to buy a MINI.

Overall dealer discounts are nil, demand is far outstripping supply at the moment at least, the best you can do is get as good a trade in price for you car (if you want to trade it in of course) and then see what you can get from the Mini accessories catalogue I for one being the dutiful brother got my sister a rather sporting top free of charge from my dealer along with being able to keep the road tax from my saxo, a full tank of petrol and they made up a set of plates for my private numberplate...so all in all very good (my dealer is Howarth in Newcastle under Lyme Staffs). In effect you have to condition yourself that the TLC package is your discount on the car. £100 for 5 years or 50,000 miles is incredible value and peace of mind add to that things like 3 years Mondial recovery service which is identical to that supplied on motors such as my fathers 3 series and its a great package.

Your point on quality and faults is a valid point. I had the same reservations. I advise you to read through the various forums here on Mini2. On the whole as with all cars there were teething problems, some of which were more serious than others. On the whole though most of these problems have been ironed out. The Mini is now a car of real quality.

So what are you waiting for buy one now!! Right now!!

Regards
Christopher

Thanks for your comments Christopher. In response to your "buy one now" comment, I have! I ordered it yesterday.

I went for a black MINI One with manual air-conditioning, salt pack, leather steering wheel and isofix.

Do I get commission thats the question!!

You will not be disappointed. Apart from a whistle coming from my climate control the car is fantastic. Covered over 600 miles in a week and it just gets better all the time.

Regards
Christopher

Excellent stuff! I can only just afford the car, so I'm afraid the commission will have to wait!

I can't wait to get it, although mid-Jan seems a long way away right now.

Well I am sure you'll be able to keep yourself occupied. I suggest buying a model of your Mini!! I was very lucky....I got mine inside 27 days! The car not the model.

Regards
Christopher
