MINI and the government scrappage scheme....

And other news....

"Owners of rusty old Minis last week rejoiced as BMW UK announced it would be fully supporting the UK Government’s new vehicle scrappage scheme, meaning they can finally chop in their ailing old classic in place of a shiny new BMW produced MINI."

So, have I got this right.....if I had a Mini of at least 10years old to trade in then BMW would knock £1000 off the price of a new MINI (and the government would throw in an extra £1000), but if I took in my 57 reg One to px, they wouldnt give me any discount at all?

Thats it, but the government wouldnt give you any money as your car has perfectly good emmisions. The scheme is to get old rusty cars off the road to create room for more efficiant engines therefore saving our planet

Most dealers will discount anyway just now, but this is an additional £2,000 government backed scheme. £1k from the company, £1k from the UK Government.

MMM...I'm not convinced by the supposed environmental motivations for this scheme, but it just annoys me that my local dealer (who reckon they want to "look after me")says that new sales are bouyant so there arent any discounts, yet offer me a low trade in price because of the market conditions!. I'll have to do some more shopping around

You can like me win on the scappage scheme, I have just placed an order for a new mini cooper delivery 1st Sep. I have a 2007 cooper for part ex, I also have in my name a bashed up 99T punto taxed and tested I bought for my grandson worth about 5 bob in old money. I have part exchanged my 2007 mini + my old Punto. This deal excludes mini`s current 500 pound discount but gains the 2000 pounds scappage. I achieved a good part ex on my 07 mini plus a 340 pound radio upgrade.
