I'm sorry, but that 1980's advert should have been left well alone. This does not suit the current car and seems custom built to antagonise every remaining Classic MINI owner on the planet!
May '04 - Feb '07 R50, Feb '07 - May '10 R53. Enjoyed our time with MINI's, but ran out of space! Now Focus RS & Land Rover powered...
I think they original is fantastic not just because it was created the year I was born.
The new one is also wonderful for the modern take on the mini.
Classic mini owners should not be upset by this, I had never seen the original advert until this new video was created and were posted side by side.
Enjoyed watching both, just like I enjoy both classic and modern Minis.
I am a classic Mini owner (continuously since 1974) and I think it's a great and clever tribute to the original, I post regularly on the classic Miniforums and reaction has been ok, many classic Mini owners have moved on now after 10 years with the diehard 'haters' steadily becoming a minority......AROnline were not enthusiastic as usual but many of them seem to really like the new Chinese built MG range....so maybe they are not the best to judge.
Also as said above it brings the original ad back into the public eye and introduces it to another generation who missed it first time around in 1986.
Did not realise they'd remade that advert. Not really bothered either way, maybe would be nice if someone managed to merge them, perhaps start with the classic, close with the new.
Loved the original, bought a tear to my eye when it aired as I had only just had to get rid of my Mini 1000 De luxe, love the new one, fitting tribute, after all, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
