CAR Magazine Top 100

The April issue of CAR sees the launch of their new top 100 cars on sale at the moment feature - 'the cars that matter most'.

And the results? {drumroll}

At Number 40 - the MINI ONE (yayyyyy! woo-hoo! etc)

At Number 23 - The MINI Cooper (huzzaah! yip-yip! etc)

and finally.......

At NUMBER TWO!!! - THE MINI Cooper S!!!! (crowd goes bananas, brass band fires up, hats in air, streamers, spontaneous snogging, etc etc etc )

That puts the S just behind the Porsche 911 Turbo and ahead of the Pagani Zonda at 3 and the 360 Modena at 4.

Bit of a result wot?

Moogy (Patiently waiting for his Number 23...)

Weeeeeell, it's just the mags opinion. They justify the choice with 'there's no more fun way of doing everyday driving things than a Mini Cooper S', and 'more than capable of humbling supposed superiors on a favourite back road'.

All true I'm sure

I think the Modena and Zonda don't really fall into the 'everyday driving' category, for most anyway.

The 911 Turbo beats it cos it can do the everyday thing too as well as spanking the **** of just about anything else out there. As CAR puts it - 'the ideal choice for commuting, grand touring, a top three finish in the Gumball rally, or an assault on the Nordschliefe production-car record.'

I live in L.A., where there are more 911 turbos than Minis. which I guess is good since my Mini tends to get more attention than the more commonplace Porche.
