Change the colour of images in Photoshop?!

To make it clear, how do u take a picture of a red Mini and make it black without affrectiing the colour of the roof?!

Cheers!
Andy

Well I'd save as another name, then select all the bits I wanted to with various tools (magic wand I'd try first) I'd remove like the colored parts or whatever then I'd alter the color of these parts, then cut and paste them ontop of the original image.

I could not advise you better w/o seeing the image in question.

Pop over to minicooperonline if you need more assistance, as I go there far more often than I do here.

Depends on your knowledge of photoshop.

In short, select the parts you want to change using the magic wand and/or other highlighting tools, then make the adjustments. I usually copy the background layer first so I'm not working on the original (easier to revert), and I always save a .psd version before doing anything else!

If you want any more tips, just ask, we've got a few photoshop pros/users around here.

I use Paint Shop Pro, and there is a function called Hue Mapping that will allow you to comprehensively change one color to another. It works quite well.

I am not familiar enought with Photoshop to know if there is a similar feature, but there ought to be!

Here are examples of hue mapping that I did previously...

Muprhy's take on Rallyes: Measurements will always be expressed in the least useable units. Velocity, for example, will be expressed in furlongs per fortnight.

I realize that bitmap-based programs like Photoshop are everybody's favorite, but vector-based programs give more latitude for customizing quickly...IMHO.

Depends what you want to do though really, and also your ability to draw comes into it too.

I use the lasso tool to select what I want to change. After you start a selection, use [shift] to add to it or [alt] to subtract from it (unless your on a Mac, which is only slightly different).

When I get everything selected that I want to change the color on, I go to <image - adjustments- hue/saturation. For a newbie, hue/sat can get pretty complex. But like most imaging programs, you have to play with it until you figure it out. In hue/sat, there is a pull down menu that allows you to change specific colors (master, red, blue, green, yellow, cian, magenta). Adjust those specific colors individually for the best results.

Good luck!
