Velvet Cooper The Italian Job

I have long been a fan of the movie THE ITALIAN JOB..and prior to buying my MINI last year -- I searched high and low for the video of the original.

Now having them both (many of us) on DVD -- wouldn't you agree that the chase scene is far more exciting on the ORIGINAL. With todays technology, we could have really had a nailbiter chase scene -- with police escapes, the MINI climbing over and jumping over.., and perhaps a nice scene at the beach.

Don't get me wrong -- I love both movies -- but the Original ROCKED. Do you agree????

You should post this in the Movies and Games Section.

I do agree, the original rocked, but I think that they are both equal, in that they arn't the same story.

OK. I'll split some hairs here and probably get flamed as well.

The chase scene in the original was much better, no doubt.
What I don't agree with is that the original is a better movie. Don't get me wrong I love old movies. Especially old British movies.
But really the original is disjointed and just odd at times. Yes like many movies of that era.

I like it, heck I bought it but to hold it up as some kind of great movie is a bit much.
And the infamous ending. I mean really. Just get the other six(5) guys to walk to the front of the bus and then Charlie can just walk to the pallet and grab one bar at a time and stack them up front of the pivot point. Done deal.

Anytime where you have a chase movie that utilizes good old fashioned stunt driving and not CGI, it's all good. Both Italian Job movies, the Bond series, that great motorcycle chase scene in The Great Escape, Bullitt, Gone in 60 Seconds, etc - good/great stunt driving, even if the movies were kind of lame sometimes.

Compare that to the CGI that they used in 2 Fast 2 Furious - I have to say, WTF is that? It almost comes to a point where 'live-action' begins to replicate the video animation in a game like GTA, rather than the other way round!!!
