They've just shown video footage of a police car having a blow out at 100mph.......Scary stuff. The car spun 3 times over 3 lanes before coming to a stop.

Runflats to follow after the break.

They just did lap times of a Mini Cooper and a Diesel Skoda.......the SKoda was quicker by 0.6secs.

Gits!!!

He did say the Mini handled much better though.

Interesting about the run-flats, but I'll still be changing mine for non run-flats when they give up in about 2 months time

Well they work.

First they demonstrated how a car would handle if it had four flat normal tyres. The car was everywhere and they soon came off the rim.

They then did a lap in a BMW 5 Series with the Runflat tyres inflated. Then they did the lap again but punctured all four tyres. I have to say it was very impressive. He hit speeds of 100mph and it handled fine he commented that he couldn't even tell they were punctured. He was even able to chuck it round corners and the car was composed. At no point did the tyres come off the rims. The lap time was only 15secs slower.

I may keep my runflats after all.

Runflats truely do work. I've experienced this first hand only last week

Was out test driving a MCS when one of the rear tyres blew. Only realised this because the tyre pressure warning light went off. We were doing 70mph on the motorway at the time
Yes the car went "loose" but in no way unsafe

I guess it's a good safety aspect if you are to pick up a nail or something similar. Checking your tyres for age or nails isn't enough. You don't know what you might pick up while driving.

MINI, RX8 and MX5 - Done those............. It's now TTime

I'm really thinking of keeping them now. Seeing that cop car spinning was scary.

They were lucky nobody actually hit them. I guess the flashing lights on the top helped people spot them, but I guess in a regular car you might not be so lucky

Was very scary

RX8s don't come with runflats
