| MINI2 Newbie | Apart from this forum (which is very good!) - is there a New Mini Newsgroup that I can subscribe to? I have had a look at alt.autos.mini but this appears to be totally about the original mini. Cheers Dan |

| Trained Monkey | At this time there is no new MINI newsgroup, and as you say the new MINI and discussion regarding it is not very welcome (to say the least) in alt.autos.mini. I personally proposed in alt.config to start alt.autos.bmw.mini or alt.autos.bmw-mini (as alt.autos.mini.new or alt.autos.new-mini were not seen over-all as appropriate) the idea came in for MUCH more criticism than support, so the idea was dropped. More recently Matt_G who I know via the internet and mini's tried again to propose this, and again got 'shouted' down. The argument being that alt.autos.mini and alt.autos.bmw were more than enough for the new MINI. Maybe if another proponent had a go, and had support from alt.autos.mini users and users of this forum, we could maybe get something started? |

| MINI2 Newbie | Thanks for the prompt reply! I used to Have an original Mini which I loved and I don't see this new Mini diluting the brand at all like the people in the newsgroup do. Would it be possible to set up a mailing list in the interim from Mini2.com with all the latest postings from the forum? Sometimes I forget to check the site and miss out on updates. A mailing list would get around this and also provide a halfway house before a newsgroup is started. Cheers Dan |

Offline | I prefer this forum over using a newsgroup or a maillist. A newsgroup may not be available with everyone's ISP, and a fast running maillist can easily overflow a mailbox. This message board is very easy to use, looks great, and it's accessible from any browser. History of past posts is conveniently simple to search. Anyone visiting the mini2.com site for the first can easily discover what is going on in the world of MINI enthusiasts by visiting this forum. By keeping it simple and inviting, more people are likely to participate and we can look forward to having more discussions about MINIs. |

Offline | I agree with Bruce. Also, I belong to many newsgroups which I have filtered to seperate mailboxes in order avoid clutter in my general in box = I forget to read them. Go figure! To each their own, however |
