I had a go on one today - it is a tidy piece of kit. The graphics are superb and it looks like there is going to be plenty of games to support it. I've got a couple on order anyone else getting/got one?

UK price is going to be £179.99.

It is quite a bit more expensive than the Nintendo DS (£99) but you can watch movies on the PSP as well as listen to music. I had a play on both and for me the Sony came out tops.

i can't decide if to pre-order, rush out and get one when they come in store, or sit and wait for the price drop in say 6mths time?

But I shall be getting one, will be great for flights overseas, and as you see its a great piece of kit

I have had one on order for a while. Still waiting for news of the launch date for GT4 for PSP

Of course our US and Japanese members will all have had these for some time But:-

I imported one from hong kong six months ago. It's brilliant and and comparison with the DS isn't fair. The PSP has graphics indiscernible from that of the PS2. It is a PS2 in your hand! Anyone who installs a PS2 in their car without seeing one will regret it
Ridge Racer is brilliant. GT4 was supposed to be released much earlier in the year but seems to have been put back to Sept for all markets.

Just buy one!

Will be getting one for sure, but may wait until GT4 comes out and i'm hoping they will do a GT4 bundle.

I ordered mine a while ago as well. So hopefully we should be one of the first to get our grubby mits on one. TIP Neil: I was told games will be limited so if you've pre-ordered a PSP, you can also put in a pre-order for some games.

I've just been sorting out some games as my original choice. GTA Liberty City has been delayed to October.

I see from Game's web site their pre-order allocation has sold out. Now all you can do is stick your name down on the "next stock in" list. Who knows how long that will take.

I see Amazon are doing the games at £25 too. Game are classing them as "discounted" at £34.99

I know the Xbox 360 will not be as good as the PS3 but it's released on the 25th of November! -Not that I collect gadgets or anything-but I'll have to buy one. Still no release date for the PS3.
I think rakey's right. I've ordered a UK PSP but may keep it boxed because SONY will run out by Christmas!

ive played a jap import psp.

so far none of the games have impressed me enough to buy it. also too many reports of dead pixels on the screen NOTE that your warranty doesnt cover you for this, even though it should screen degradation is not a good enough excuse...

will wait until someone i know has Granturismo on it then i will decide.

Its a quality piece of kit, I bought a Japanese import one a couple of months back!
As you'd expect, lots of the games are just portable clones of PS2 titles and not really worth the cash. Eg Ridge Racer.. it looks nice but you might as well just play on your PS2

There are a few completely stunning games however. Wipeout Pure is completely fantastic and really shows the system off! Its right good to play and it looks and sounds sooooooo nice!
And Lumines is probably one of the most playable games I've ever played.. Don't discount Lumines because it's 'just a puzzle game', when its in action it looks and sounds gorgeous. Stick the headphones on and trance out for 30mins If anyone played Rez on PS2 or Dreamcast, the same guy designed this one!

I've got a fair few games, but these 2 are the only ones I play out of em

Upgraded to firmware version 2.0 today (which the Euro machines will all have out of the box apparently).. comes complete with web browser! Been browsing mini2 out in the garden on my PSP today!! Good eh?

How does the web browser work? What I mean is, where's the connection to the web? As in, does it communicate with a mobile phone? Or does it network with your home network (if you have one - I don't!) or what? I asked a sales guy in Game about it and he was absolutely clueless - his definitive answer: "It just does it. I don't know how." I gave up after that.

Uses a wi fi link. You would need a wireless b/g router/network modem attatching to broadband (cable or adsl). If you can find a narrow band or ISDN network modem this would also work. My PSP supports WEP but not WPA.
