Offline | Rally Computer Hi All, I know there is another thread on this subject but it is kind of old. Perhaps someone has been able to locate the wire that carries the speedo signal. I'm hoping to patch into that to drive a rally computer. I have had some experience (on another car) of patching into the cable that runs from the speed sensor to the OBC without much success; from memory the signal had two many pulses (i.e. too high a frequency). I reckon the signal from the OBC to the speedometer would be better. I'd rather not try to wire a sensor from a drive shaft or rear wheel because the MINI is a road car and is only used for navigation rallies. In other words, there won't be a roll cage and the interior trim will remain intact. I don't fancy trying to chase the sensor wire though the bulkheads and behind interior trim. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I have since fitted a Teratrip to a MINI. Help was given to me on this post: http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...-computer.html Cheers, Dave Last edited by Dave Elliott : Jan 27th, 2007 at 05:52 AM. Reason: Other thread has solution |

Offline | Hi, Locating the wire is no problem. Getting it to speak to a terratrip is another thing altogether. I haven't seen anyone yet that has made it work. That includes the 2 Sherrin Racing minis that are prepared by one of the best racing workshops in the country They are still using mechanical sensors off the rear tyres.BTW my rear wheel sensor is accurate to a few metres after a hundred kms Cheers Robbo Mods: GO MADDIE and SPARKY! |

| MINI2 Master | There won't be a single wire carrying the signal, the entire electrical system in the MINI works on a bus. murmini - MINI Cooper blog : There is a BUS in my MINI |

Offline | Have a look at this thread: http://www.mini2.com/forum/engine-dr...-computer.html I successfully fitted a Terratrip to my MCS by connecting to a wire located behind the sill trim just in front of the drivers seat. I have no idea what this wire is for, all I know is that it carries a square wave whose frequency is proportional to road speed. Initial testing shows that it is very accurate, I'll post photos and further assessments later. I reckon it's a lot easier than fitting a wheel sensor and chasing a wire from this through the MINI interior trim. |
