Question Track Day Tyre Pressure

Hi

i'll be tracking my MINI for the first time this weekend and i'd like to get to info on tyre pressure for the track day.

I was given guideline tyre pressure from timmydamini (33psi Front, 30 Rear, Thanks ). From what i've gathered that after the first session the tyre pressure will rise, so after the first session do i control the tyre pressure and let some air out til i get to 33psi Front and 30 rear???

Also i've read that its better to run on a higher psi, so that the tyre wall is firmer so the tyre wears less and wears more evenly? so do i still let the air out after the first session or do i run at a higher psi cause 33 and 30 is a standard road driving psi?????

One more thing, if i do have to let air out after the first session, will the air expand as much on the 2nd and 3rd session??

thanks
Fabio

Here's an older thread that should help.

What track?

What track are you running on?

My advice re pressures is to go up to 34 front and 36 back (for a little added rear wheel steer) and adjust the pressure throughout the day.

Typically, after the first session I bleed out some air and then it stays pretty much constant until the tyres cool down - mind you I do use sticky R888s on the track.

Above all - enjoy!
