| GP 06 MCS 0380 | Tyre rack/trolley, Pit lane solutions Long shot here but exhausting all avenues as ive only a week to do this. As part of my University project I've to design a custom trolley to carry wheels/tyres, and some tools for a formula student race car. Just wondering if anyone has any info on suppliers of tyre racks/trolleys, pit lane solutions like this? Need this for research part of the project report and google hasnt thrown much up. Have looked at demon tweeks, GPR motorsport equipment so far. ![]() |

| GP 06 MCS 0380 | Keep them coming guys. More information I can get the better. Very helpful Hartge210. Has to be manually operated, not allowed powered trolleys or buggies for safety reasons. Also have to design a push bar, a device for pushing and pulling the car around the pits and grid with driver in place. Its a single seater style car. ![]() |

Offline | Hi Peter, Car movement.... Best design i can think of would be along the sack barrow philosophy. It would need fully castored wheels with 360 degree capability. Then the rear footrest bar should lock or brake the wheels - this way when levering the car up the wheels wouldn't move. So the principle would be.... 1. Move trolley under car and start to lever back until contact is made. 2. Put foot on rear of trolley to aid with lifting, this also brakes the wheels to stop it sliding. 3. Once up, car can be moved around. 4. Lower by applying brake, then lifting and removing trolley from car. You'd obviously need one at either end.... ![]() ![]() |

| GP 06 MCS 0380 | Cheers John i'm looking to just push the car with all four wheels on the ground, driver onboard to steer. Could just push and pull at the roll over section of chassis but rules stipulate u must provide a push bar. And lifting mechanism overcomplicates the design when it serves no purpose. What you describe is a quick lift jack, someone elses project, can use it as one of my concepts but not as solution. Anyway I'm at the research stage, seeing what else exists, rather than coming up with solutions at this stage. Do any such devices exist currently john? If so any information on manufacturers? ![]() |

Offline | I've no idea if someone makes something similar to be honest, I was just thinking about manouvrability - if the need arose to rotate a car by 90 degrees for instance. If its a simple removeable pushbar, the first thing to consider is where this will mount on the car. Ideally you'd have two tubular slots that you can fix your bar into, or you may have to look at the chassis of the car and see if it will have to attach to the chassis. ![]() |

| GP 06 MCS 0380 | My problem isnt coming up with solutions have about 3 different ones already, my problem is the research end of what similar products currently exist. I know, issue is weight has to be kept a minimum, so I cant go adding any tubular slots, particularly as this will affect the chassis and give someone else a headache. Thinking of something that attaches to a steel bar that is mandatory fit at the rear for marshalls to move car in accidents, and the lower rear chassis member. Something like those toebar bicycle racks you see on cars. ![]() |
