New JCW Class Canned Until 2009

Due to a lack of interest the new JCW Challenge Class in the UK will not be happening this year.
It is now scheduled to start in the UK in 2009.

It looks like it's been hidden at the bottom of a webpage, the link is below for those who don't believe.

Reduce the price by 3k, make them road legal, and you'll sell shedloads in the UK!

Yeah I agree Chris, I think it has probably got a lot to do with the cost of the new cars. Shame really.

Cost is probably a major factor. For the same money, maybe a bit less you can have a Clio and the coverage that goes with it.

I agree. Its a massive price for the car. Nobody I spoke to at the Silverstone day was blown away by the car and its a direct competitor to the well established and publicised Clio Cup series.

Shame though as I fancied doing a couple of races when the MINI Challenge was on the same package.Maybe 2009?????

The introduction of the John Cooper Works Class within MINI CHALLENGE has been delayed until 2009.

Thats the bit that threw me I thought the new series was a separate entity.

Oh well more time for Club racing next year then thanks for the PMs Kosta.

That is a real shame... having seen the new car in action at the Silverstone test it was clear how much quicker it was than the car it was due to replace. I was chatting to one of the German guys who was there and, although he wouldn't give me specifics, the car is around four seconds per lap quicker too. Fingers crossed I'll be able to swing a trip to the Nordschleife for the 24 hours - I know the German version of the series sold out in 2007.
