stayed in Hotel Nordescliffe or something in Adenau. Nice place. You're right about the beer, drank too much of the crappy BitBurger but the Erdinger was good.
Food was pretty crap in Germany tho...everything with chips

Just to clarify and so I don't put anyone off. It is a great place and if your not a nutter it's relatively safe. You'll have a great time and it's something anyone with an interest should do. I feel your much safer in a car and if you drive within your ability the chances of anything going pear shaped are quite small.
On a bike however it can be a very dangerous place and the amount of times I've come close to being knocked off just made me pack it in. I've yet to have a lap in the Cooper S so I'll have to get over there soon

You;ll like this, this was our first trip to the ring back in 2005 when we hired a Megane 225 from the local renault dealers here to take round the track ( well they did'nt know that), The vid is 4 up, and we do an Evo and a few other cars. Was a little mad at the time, but good fun

The guy who goes off in front of us on the grass is the guy who smashed it up latter that day, not surprising really.

Point 1) That guy should learn how to hold a steering wheel, 1 handed isnt smart/clever on track

Point 2) Guy in that focus probably went on the grass because you were right up his ass!

Point 1) guy driving raced in the VW cup for the last 2 yrs and was'nt even trying. he does actually know how to drive.

Point 2) the guy in the focus went off because he is a crap driver who thought he knew it all from playstation ( see my earluier points) partly the reason why he was being pushed round. Oh and he was with us.

I won't visit the Green Hell this Summer.
It's impossible now to find a decent slot without too much traffic.
Blame it on Top Gear...
In Germany, especially on Nürburgring: Please keep to the right !
Seriously, a UK plate on a car is more or less considered to be an accident waiting to happen.

the focus should have let the megane through, good track etiquette is to let faster cars past if they've been sat on your bumper for a couple of corners

I've been round there as a passenger in a Smart Roadster with a professional racing driver, and it was a little scary to say the least!! Mighty good fun though!!

Been to the ring a couple of times now - good to just go to watch and have a few beers if you don't fancy going on the track.

Hotel Nordescliffe is the best place to stay - right next to the Adenau bridge and some good places to go at night in Adenau.

Best to avoid the weekends and go when it is quiet and during good weather. Its then as safe as you make it, if you feel yourself pushing a bit too far - its time to stop....

Hope the people in that MINI were OK

I actually think it's quite dangerous now and seems to get worse everytime I've been recently.
Saying that I hope those people are ok and that their insurance will put everthing right.

I have read that some insurance companies put on the forms that any claim that happened at the Nordschleife will not be paid.

Also I am sure I have heard that the German Police can get you for dangerous driving etc on the Nordschleife because it is classed as a public road (i.e driving on the right and overtaking on the left etc).
