air conditioning removal

hi all,

has anyone out there removed their a/c system for racing? i am in the process of doing so and need to find a accessory/ v- belt that will fit an a/c-less car. since a/c is standard on us cars, the dealer does not stock a shorter belt.

can any european cooper/ one owner please indicate if there are base model cars that do not have a/c standard?

thanks!
eugene

You may want to ask MiniMania. They converted the first MINI in the world to race spec. (not sure they started with a MINI with a/c but they may have)

+ 2002 MINI Cooper S - Dark Silver / White roof, Sport, Premium, Lapis blue leather
+ 1965 Mini Traveller - Tartan Red / White roof, 1275, Cooper S discs, fully restored/renewed

Getting rid of the A/c and condenser in front would be a great start for a "real" front mount intercooler= HP!

Only a matter of time.

Jet Black MCS
Lapis leather
17s or 15s (winter)
no DSC

JCC Coopers are non a/c car - the parts are available in the UK - Sure the dealer could get hold of one from the factory if he tried

In the UK, none of the models have a/c as standard.

for the archives...

in case anyone in the US/ north america needs a shorter drive belt after removing the A/C, the appropriate part number is:

11.28.7.518.249

or the dimmensions of the belt are:

6PK x892

i was able to order this through my local dealer.

cheers
