Offline | Best tire/wheel combo for street prepared autoX Just finished my novice season autocrossing in G stock. For fun, since I'm not going to be competitive for quite awhile, I'm getting an Alta pulley, Shark ecu upgrade and the H-sport suspension package this winter. My question is this: what are my choices for racing wheels/tires now that I'm no longer stock? How small/wide can I go? These will be race-only. Thanks for all input. Gene |

Offline | The pulley put you in Street Mod, not street prepared. I'd look at a set of 15x7.5 or 8 and 225/50/15's. There are not a lot of choices wider than that that will fit a MINI IB/W MC with the really big checkered flag on top 2004 H Stock National Champion |

Offline | Thanks for the info! I'm having trouble finding 15x8's for the Mini. They certainly don't have them @ Tirerack. A web search gives me all steel 4x4 applications. Any ideas on where to get them? Thanks |

Offline | Diamond Racing makes a 15 x 8 they aren't pretty but they are the right size. http://www.diamondracingwheels.com/D...RaceSeries.htm Circle Racing also make a 15 x 8 but lighter and more expensive. http://www.circlekarting.com/Merchan...t_Code =82580 IB/W MC with the really big checkered flag on top 2004 H Stock National Champion |

Offline | Your best choices, without cramming, are 225/45R15 Hoosiers or the 215/40R16 Hoosier. The 225 barely has more contact patch, but would be worth running for the rotational mass of the 15". The bigger issue is avoiding larger-than-stock diameter tires, which is what keeps you to smaller widths (by comparison). Offline | I just saw a new BBS 15x7 wheel for the MINI. I don't know its exact weight but it felt fairly light, I'd guess 12 lbs. I'll try to take a picture of it later this week at the SEMA show in Las Vegas. |
