We race here in the UK. If you take a look at our website, www.lohen.co.uk, you can see pictures dotted about of our show car taking part in the Harewood Hill Climb championships. I'm interested to know who else races here in the UK as we are thinking of planning a day out at Bruntingthorpe Proving ground for new Minis. Anyone interested?

Hopefully there will be a hand full of nutters! If you don't mind sending us your contact details to nick@lohen.co.uk we will let you know more information closer to the time (Hopefully before Christmas!). Is there anyone else who would like to join us on a Mini outing, for some lite track fun at Bruntingthorpe. No experience need and will be a light-hearted introduction into track days.

Probably worth you posting this as a new thread in the UK forum too, as a lot of people might be keen to do it, but not into "racing MINIs" so to speak.

Hey gbuff, I hear that Mid-Ohio is awesome! I must try it sometime. Did you go yet?

Just got back from a weekend with NASA-VA at Summit Point. They really run a nice event! What a fantastic weekend at the track! It was a bit cold, and we had wet conditions early on Sunday, but it was great!

Jacques was back in action, with a few upgrades in addition to fixing his engine boo-boo. There were three of us northeastern MINIs in the same group. You may have seen and/or met him at the Glen as he was there with NASA-NE when you were.

Shiny side up!

Got back last night, except for a bit of rain on Sat. morning the weather was sunny and beautiful. I could drive the car fast right off the bat and I got into the 1:59s with a best of 1:59.05 on the street tires (this event was with the PCA and they don't care if you time as long as it's not obvious). More than one person asked how much hp the car had and when I told them 115 they were surprised to say the least. I was hounding many high-powered cars through the turns, then naturally they would leave me for dead on the straights! The left front tire did take a beating but not that much more than my BMW does; the car could use some camber but it didn't understeer as much as I thought it would, especially at Mid-Ohio. Drifting through the turns (especially 9) was a breeze....the engine still feels a bit tight (only 1800 miles) so as it loosens up more I expect to see the times go down a bit--I was in the 1:56s in my 318ti but that car had a full suspension. The SS+ felt great on the track with little or no lean.

All in all, I'm very impressed and pleased.

gbuff, our local MINI tuner runs a Cooper at the track and does quite well with it!! What size wheels did you get and which street tires?

I'm using 15x7 SSR Comps and 205/50 Pole Position S0-3s. I started out with 37 psi all round and the car felt great but by the end of the weekend I bumped up the left front to 39 as it was rolling over a bit too much.
