Question Roll bar for Cooper S

Does anyone offer a bolt-in roll bar for the Cooper S that meets SCCA Solo I specs?

Thanks, Monsta. Their new website is under development, so I sent an e-mail inquiry. I'll post any useful info they send.

take a look at this site. They have a bolt-on SCCA approved roll cage... I don't know more about it but I guess it is worth checking it out...

Yeah, I just ordered one (the bar, not the full cage) from them this week. I'll post my experience with it once it's installed.

Any review on your rollbar? I'm looking into getting one and looking for personal reviews.

Wow Casey, that was a long time between posts on this topic!

Yeah, I've had the bar in since the beginning of May. Fortunately I haven't had any opportunity to see if it works. I did about 10 events last year and had no problems with it.

The install was complicated by the fact that I have a sunroof, and at the time they didn't make a bar to fit a sunroof car. However, my tuner's shop does fabrication work, so they modified the bar to fit my car, and sold their blueprint for it to Autopower (the company that makes the bar), so everybody got something out of the deal.

Apparently they also make pieces to turn it into a full cage if you decide to get real serious and do some wheel-to-wheel racing in the future. I'm just doing hillclimbs, time trials, driver's schools and the occasional autocross, and the bar's been just fine.

Do the side curtain air bags have to be removed or deactivated when you install the rollbar?

Spindoc - do you have a weight estimate on the rear cage? Do you have any detailed photos of your install? Thanks in advance.

Just to let you know, it was brought to my attention thatHelix 13 also offers a rollcage for the Mini.

Cheers!!!

Yup, saw they had one...looks nice...but I am hoping to only have to do a rear cage...maybe they will work on a rear one as well.

chigh - I don't know about the side curtain airbags with the bar if you're leaving in the stock seats. I replaced the seats, and since those bags are part of the seat, I don't have side curtain airbags anymore.

Casey - there are some pictures of the bar at

I don't know its weight.

The bar shouldn't have any effect on those airbags, as it's well behind the seats.

forgive me, but what is your distinction between a "rollbar" and "cage"?
Ta

oh - wait a muinite...i just looked at hte gallery link with what looks like the Minimania bar - is that a bar as opposed to the full cage?

I'm still looking for a harness bar (without the roll bar element)to use.
